A 22-year-old man is on life support after his cousin shot him in the head during an argument Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Victor Hugo Hernandez was at his cousin's apartment in the 1600 block of West Lomita Boulevard in Harbor City just before 11 when an argument prompted the the 16-year-old boy to shoot him, authorities said. The suspect, whose name is being withheld because of his age, is in custody.
Hernandez was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
The suspect called and waited at the scene for police to arrive after the shooting, said Richard French, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. The motive in the shooting is unclear.
French said he could not confirm whether the incident was gang-related.
