How many of you post about Tech elsewhere or see Tech discussed elsewhere?

I post (and moderate) at rapmusic . com, and Tech gets plenty of love there. I make sure to sprinkle the board with news every now and again. More traffic there than here, but not a ton.

BUT...

I posted a thread on sohh (http://forums.projectcovo.com/showthread.php?t=1828441) about the Rakim verse on Blown Away, partly because I KNEW the dudes that post there would jump at the chance to defend Rakim. The thread has almost 2,700 views and 160+ replies. Tech's getting quite a bit of love though, more than I expected actually.

thought I'd share.

Any of you see Tech discussed elsewhere?

When I read the title, I figured this would be about people claiming that Killer went Platinum. I've seen this thrown out in arguments regarding Tech lately, such as the whole Rakim vs. Tech thing. People are getting it in their head that because he sold "one million units independently," that it was Killer alone that did those numbers. Ha.

Though, I find where I go that Tech is still wrote off as a "Carnival rapper" that is "Weird" because of his face paint and such. That, or people will claim to have checked his stuff, but say it was nothing special so they never checked for anything further. Then you have those that come in and are 100% Pro Tech who claim the others are idiots... and well... same as it's always been. Some hate, some are fans.

Good shit for making the thread, that kind of exposure for Tech is nice even though dudes are hatin on him.

Strange's promotion go deep on the internet
forreal though, his name is mentioned in like every site and theres always a small group of fans there, and then theres the people Kain mentioned.
I post on a bunch of sports forums and they have music sections and I always throw Tech in there, along with on Facebook hiphop groups.

I just checked out that long ass thread and wtf
what's up with the hating people being black? Are black people really close-minded towards rappers who dont have have album covers flaunting their chains, and look like w/e you consider a cliche rapper to look like? I know the black community is overly homophobic as well but shit...a nigga can't do something different without it being considered "crazy white people shit"?

I joined rapbasement not too long ago. Someone started a thread saying Tech had the best rap flow around. I decided not to go back once a few guys said they prefer Joe Budden because he is more handsome...
I hate talking about rap for the most part. Rap fans seem to always want to be right (me included).

There is no in between with rap bigots. For example, you can't defend Tech without people thinking you're a weirdo who listens to ICP, and you can't NOT defend him for fear of being called a person who listens to mainstream garbage by Tech fanboys.

I won't even get into that argument on that site. There's just no point. But at least most of the Tech heads over there are explaining themselves and at least puttin him out there without sounding like dick riders, but like I said, there's no in between when it comes to rap. Kids over there think that Rakim is the second coming of Christ, and though it's fucked up to say that Tech is wack because he ISN'T Rakim, millions of threads like this are happening every day on Tech's behalf, and they make us look like fucking fools.

True story, most of the time I'll keep my opinion to myself when it comes to rap. It's not that I always want to be right, but when it gets down to it, I may not always be right but I am NEVER wrong.

TRUE

At least some people over there know whats good with Tech and are hella backin him on the subject cuz for real Ra aint shit IMO and Tech has every right to call him out and Keisha on the song.

I really cant believe anyone can refer to Rakim as GOD tho. lol that shit makes me laugh for realz. What makes him a GOD? Cuz he was around when there werent really any other rappers around and decided to rap? Its easy to stand out when you only have a handful of artists to choose from. If he were some dude just coming out now tryin to make a name for himself, he wouldnt be shit.

I cant fucking stand when they call old rappers legends n shit just cuz they were around at the beggining. Ya thanx for gettin it goin but lets give credit where its really do. Just cuz u were there at the start doesnt mean ur the shit for the next 20 years. ESPECIALLY when 10 of those years you havent released 1 fucking album...

because he's one of the best to touch a mic, past and present.

because his approach and style to song-making and his writing influenced, at least indirectly, every rapper that has made music since. there was before Eric B & Rakim and there was after. He is either your favorite rapper's favorite rapper or your favorite rapper's favorite rapper's favorite rapper (got that?).

...and that includes Tech

does it warrant the snub? of course not...

Yeah I can see that, but he wasn't the ONLY one to pioneer it, and if Rakim wasn't there, some other hungry kid with lyrical talent would have taken his place. Sayin that without Rakim there would be no modern Hip-Hop may be true, but even without him, a lot of other people would have caught on eventually. If Rakim pioneered Hip-Hop into what it is today, then to hell with that. it's people like Tech that are keeping that spirit alive, Rakim hasn't done anything recently to influence a better sound and clever lyrics in these kids that are producing nothing but garbage these days. For him to sit all high and mighty on a pile of garbage that was once something great is just stupid.

lol at the Tech fans on here doing the same thing the Rakim fans at the other board did.

I for one, don't like Rakim's music. But I respect it. His music just doesn't do anything for me, just doesn't appeal. I also find it silly how people call him God too. I'ma keep it real and not pretend like I've went out and listened to awhole lot of Rakim. I'm also not gonna turn around expect all these Rakim fans to shut up and respect Tech's hustle while trying to discredit Ra.

Ra can go suck my dick though
fuck him

someone WOULD have been a Rakim if Rakim wasn't there. Fact is he WAS there. ERic B is President and My Melody sound TERRIBLY dated in 2009 (even if 90% of emcees have never written something as dope as the "I take seven emcees put 'em in a line" lyrics), but were groundbreaking at the time. Prior to that, nobody brought style and substance to wax like he did, not even Run-DMC. He influence everything that was released from 86-95 on the east coast (and even west coast pioneers like Ice-T and Too Short), all of whom would go on to influence the folks who have released shit over the last ten years.

Otherwise, I agree completely.
