if you have enough cool shit to rotate around, and not always be wearing the same jeans/shoes/tee/hats then its money well spent.

if you go cheap and only buy a new hoodie every couple months, and wear it everyday, then people know you by it and your shit is played out quick

plus some 20 dollar tee, regardless of what some might say, is going to be cheaper material/quality. not fitted proper, washes out, fucking iron-on bullshit falls off

i'd say my average shirt price is about $25-$30. i do by the 5 pack of white tees in the summer and rock em all summer but thats because it's way too hot to be wearing the black tee- affliction and xzavier be putting out. i usually rock all my good clothes in the winter then white tees and basketball shorts all summer.
