Sources have confirmed with AllHipHop.com that rapper T.I. was arrested today (October 13) in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, after police executed a warrant and searched his Atlanta home.

T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr., was taken into custody earlier in the afternoon, causing him to miss being honored for Album of the Year for T.I. vs. T.I.P., as well as a scheduled performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Federal agents investigating the rapper executed a search warrant utilizing agents from The ATF, Fugitive Task Force, Fulton County SWAT, DeKalb County PD and the Atlanta PD Violent Crime Impact Team raided the rapper's Southwest Atlanta today.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that weapons were recovered in the raid, but as of press time, authorities have not revealed the reason for the investigation and subsequent raid, or what was actually recovered.

T.I., 27, led all nominees of the BET Hip-Hop Awards with nine for his album T.I. Vs. T.I.P. including nominations for MVP of the Year, Lyricist of the Year and Album of the Year, which he won.

The rapper recently released a new single titled "Hurt" which features DJ Drama, Alfamega and Busta Rhymes.

The trio performed the new single without T.I.. Busta Rhymes lent his support to the rapper by yelling "free T.I.!" during the performance.

(AP) ATLANTA Grammy-winning rapper T.I. was arrested Saturday - just hours before he was to perform at the BET Hip-Hop Awards - in a parking lot where federal officials said he planned to pick up machine guns and silencers his bodyguard bought for him.

T.I., born Clifford Harris, is charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. Harris was in federal custody, said U.S. attorney's office spokesman Patrick Crosby, who would not disclose his location.

Sydney Margetson, a spokesman for T.I.'s label, Atlantic Records, declined to comment Saturday evening.

The arrest resulted from an investigation that began this month. A federal firearms dealer told the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that a man was inquiring about buying a machine gun without registering the weapon as required, according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

After trying to buy several machine guns from an undercover ATF agent, the unnamed person began cooperating with the government and said he was buying the machine guns and silencers for Harris, the complaint said. The bodyguard said that he had bought about nine firearms for Harris, and that the rapper had given him cash to buy guns four times, the complaint said.

Harris brokered the deals through the bodyguard because the rapper is a convicted felon, the complaint alleged. It is against federal law for a convicted felon to have another person get firearms on their behalf.

The 27-year-old rapper arranged to meet with the bodyguard Saturday to exchange cash for weapons, the complaint said. After his arrest in the shopping center parking lot not far from the awards show, agents found three firearms in the vehicle he was driving, including a loaded firearm between the driver's seat and center console, according to the complaint.

As the awards were being taped in Atlanta on Saturday night, federal authorities were still searching T.I.'s home in East Point, about 15 miles southwest of the city.

Agents found six guns in a closet, including three allegedly bought by the bodyguard for the rapper last month, according to the complaint. Five were loaded, agents said.

T.I. had been expected to perform at the BET show, which is to be broadcast Wednesday, and was nominated in nine categories. Instead, the rapper was noticeably absent from red carpet festivities before the show began at 6 p.m.

At approximately 2:40 pm on October 13, 2007, a federal search warrant was executed at
HARRIS’s house at 429 Creekview Lane, College Park, Georgia. In a walk-in closet in
the bedroom identified as belonging to HARRIS, agents found a Colt model AR15 .223
caliber rifle, bearing serial number LE033297, a DPMS model AP4 .308 caliber rifle (Picture Below),
bearing serial number 14056, and a Calico model L3 9mm caliber pistol, bearing serial
number B004397. Agents have confirmed each of the preceding three firearms were the
same as those purchased by the CW for HARRIS on September 6, 2007 and September
26, 2007. Agents also found a Colt .44 magnum revolver, a CAI 7.62 x 39 caliber rifle,
and a Bushmaster 5.56 caliber pistol in the same closet in the same bedroom. Some of
the firearms were in the closet, and some were inside the closet inside the safe the CW
previously described. Agents also found that five of the firearms were loaded.

Lol, its fucked up that he's locked up and all. But he brought this on himself. U cant be doing stupid shyt like that with all that money. This is a FEDERAL case, so there is no in and out of this situation. Gotta use better judgement. He's young, rich, and black...so therefore, he's a target. What makes him even more of a target is that he's a RAPPER who talks about makin illegal moves and so on. So come on, that was a stupid move on his part. When you have that much money and as u get older, its time to leave that "keeping it real/street" bullshit alone and just enjoy the success from all your hard work.
