You post says your city is old from 1908, they are using the term barrio in terms of what its really meant, not the slang form as we now know as Varrio. There weren't even any L.A. Gangs in 1908 but the city of Orange did? No, it had a barrio, meaning, loosley coined as a "Mexican Neighborhood", but not Barrio in the sense of a gang.
So congrats, you live in an old ass city but your gang is not old not unless you don't understand the true meaning of the word Barrio, which was never intended to mean gang.
San Jose has one of the oldest "Mexican Neighborhoods" in the entire state as well, but gang culture is not as old as L.A.'s, just like the beautiful city of Orange.
So stop now, if you continue to stay the course of your argument I will start to suspect your comphrension of written dialoge is below average at best.
OK SO FOR ARGUMENT'S SAKE
SO YOUR SAYING THAT THE BARRIO COULD HAVE BEEN THERE BUT NOT THE ROOTS OF THE GANG? EVEN THOUGH THOSE SAME PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN THE BARRIO, RELATIVES AND FAMILY FILL THE RANKS OF THE GANG? AND HAVE FOR MANY GENERATIONS...
HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? ISNT MOST EVERY GANGS ORIGINS A VARRIO OR GHETTO? OR LABELED A GANG EVENTUALLY?SO PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME?
AND THIS PLACE DIDNT EVEN LOOK LIKE THE PLACE YOU SEEN UP UNTIL RECENTLY, AT LEAST AS FAR AS THE TOURIST AREA YOU VISITED. AND GANGBANGING ISNT WHAT IT ONCE WAS IN THE 90'S AND BEFORE THE THREE STRIKE LAWS,AND THATS ALL OVER...BUT OUR HISTORY AND PLACE IN THESE ORANGE COUNTY STREETS CANT BE DENIED BY SOMEBODY WHO HAS NO UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT A VARRIO IS.
LIKE I SAID READ TWO BADGES IF YOU WANT SOME OUTSIDE UN BIASED HISTORY ON MY HOOD AND IT'S PLACE IN THE GAME.

dude, no where in your posts doesn;t say anything about gang ties or gang activity in repect to the history of the Cypress Barrio.
It says the "barrio", meaning Neighborhood has been around since 1908, nothing about gang culture or anything. Got to Mexico or central america and term is used to signify "ghetto", still not a gang term.
so what you are saying is that all mexican neighborhoods create gangs? Those first barrio neighborhoods were just hard working immigrants making a life for their families and working the orange groves for the white land owners
Just admit you are wrong. You are correct in that Orange has had a very old Mexican-American neighborhood and thats beautiful, but to say you have 6 or 7 Generations of hoods, pachucos, cholos and/or gangbangers is just incorrect. How old are u? Do you know the true definition of Barrio? Its not a GANG! DAMN dude, get it straight.

THE LABEL GANG IS PUT ON US BY LAW ENFORCEMENT...WE CLAIM A VARRIO...BUT AT THIS POINT, MOST HAVE EMBRACED THE WORD AND ACCEPTED GANG AS A RESPECTABLE TERM.
THIS VARRIO WAS FIRST STARTED IN THE EARLY 1900'S AND HAS NOT DIED OUT OR BEEN WIPED OFF THE MAP...IT HAS EVOLVED INTO WHAT THE GOVERNMENT NOW LABELS A GANG, BUT IT'S CULTURE, BLOODLINES, AND HISTORY HAS REMAINED THE SAME.
THE SAME FAMILIES ARE INTACT, THE SAME HOUSES ARE STILL THERE, THE AREA IS THE SAME.
BUT CYPRESS STREET HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE FOCAL POINT OF THE VARRIO IN ORANGE AS DOCUMENTED BY CHAPMAN COLLEGE...AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN REPESENTED HENCE ,IT IS KNOWN AS OVC OR ORANGE VARRIOS CYPRESS STREET TO THIS VERY DAY. REGARDLESS IF IT WAS LABELED A GANG OR NOT. IT DOESNT CHANGE IT'S HISTORY. THE OLDER CATS FROM THE FORTIES WHO ARE STILL AROUND, ACKNOWLEDGE THE YOUNGSTERS AS BEING FROM THE SAME VARRIO AS THEM...WHATS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND IT'S ONE AND THE SAME? WHETHER IT WAS CALLED A GANG OR NOT?

LOL man, you are too much. So your gang predates Maravilla, White Fence, Hazard, Florencia all by 40-50 years?? You had a Varrio in the 1900's? The word "Varrio" didn't even exist yet!!!! There was a barrio in the early 1900's, but not a Varrio meaning of Gang. Varrio is slang. Get that straight. Shit, San Jo had a barrio in the late 1800's, so did Santa Barbara and San Juan Capistrano, etc. Ah, forget it.
Are we even talking about the same thing anymore?!?? WTF?? ARGHGHGHGH!!
Ok, I quit, this is like spitting in the wind.

I DONT KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING...I DONT KNOW HOW I THOUGHT I KNEW MORE THAN A DUDE UP NORTH?
