You say, "I know life is hard sometimes." But, for some people the hard times aren't so temporary. It's all that they know and have ever known.

I volunteer at the Alameda County's Crisis Prevention Center on the crisis/suicide hotline. It's truly heart-breaking to hear about what some people have gone through or have to endure on an everyday basis. Many suffer from chronic mental illnesses (e.g., Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder), others bedridden due to cancer or heart/kidney/liver problems, etc.
Some people have it really bad their entire lives. But I honestly don't care about those people who kill themselves over MySpace drama or because they were made fun of at school. That shit is not worth dying over.

Just curious, were you ever made fun of at school on an every day basis? Because unless you have, who are you to say whether it's worth it or not if you've never experienced that sort of pain? And even if you have, your ability to cope may be stronger due to biological reasons or the way you were raised. Some of these people are not only made fun of at school, but have also been degraded by their parents since they were kids, or have been abused, etc.

I'm not justifying suicide or arguing whether its wrong or right. But, I do try and empathize with people.

Yeah, I guess it would depend on the situation, but just from reading those, I didn't see any of those cases. Then again, its your life. All I'm saying is that I personally have no sympathy for people who choose that way out.

No I wasn't, but like you said, you try and empathize with people. I don't. I guess that's why we see things differently.

Obviously, to each his own. And I appreciate you being so civil about this matter.

And you're right, it does depend on the situation and on the person. No two human beings on this planet are alike or experience the world in the same way.

Judging from my effectiveness in Call Of Duty 2: Modern Warfare, I think I would fare well as a soldier. :knockout:

In all seriousness though, 5ive1en...I've worked in the healthcare field for the past 7 years, so I do understand that there are instances that I just simply cannot comprehend by not having first hand experience with the stuff.

I also think that working in this field has sort of numbed me to a lot of things, sadly.

You wouldn't be a good soldier then right? And I'm not saying that in jest, just saying.
Why would a good soldier need to empathize with others? Do you mean in order to better understand others' feelings out on deployments, etc? I think that's more the trait of an understanding leader, rather than a good soldier.

^^^ I thought he was asking me, lol. Maybe he was suggesting that someone who has a lot of empathy for others may not be able to take someone else's life?

I can't really see myself being a soldier, so probably not. Why do you ask? Just curious.
I ws just wondering cuz I know king is either a soldier or going to be in the military and his response is a response I see from alot of peeps in the military or those planning to join the military.

the ones of older people losing there loved ones and withering away, those are the real sad ones.good standing citizens there whole lives, and in the span of one year a handful of life changing events happen and that seriously messes up an elders head.
people that have literally lost everyone they know or care about, some people dont have the will to stay positive and give new meaning to life and living on

they say its easy to die,its living thats tough
