The original drive and point of view I would say are not the same as it used to be in the Early 90's! I don't consider him fallen off, but more changed!

What I consider Fallen Off though is Will Smith, I mean he had his own kinda style back in the 90's, and now him making music just looks like a damn joke since his form doesn't really have any relevance anywhere!

He didn't fall off, he evolved. He isn't a teenager bangin in the projects anymore making gangsta rap, he's a multi-millionaire media hustler. Ice Cube simply grew up.

I feel ya--even the "lesser" CDs Cube made are still better than most rap out. A lot of what it takes to appreciate Cube is not judging one CD based on another. For instance, you can't use THE PREDATOR standards to judge WAR, or you can't use DEATH CERTIFICATE standards to judge LETHAL INJECTION. Each CD has its' own flavor, so that always make Cube interesting each time.
Oh yeah--I love that "brrrrrrrrr!" noise, too. I used to think that he was imitating a gun, but then Tigger (on RAP CITY) asked him, "hey Cube, what does that 'brrrrrr' mean?", and Cube said "cold, man! Cold as ice!" LMFAO!

One thing that no one's really touched on yet in this thread: what do people here think of the Westside Connection's BOW DOWN CD nowadays? Any thoughts?

PEACE!

^^^Bow Down is tight. Looking back at it now, I can give it more respect than when it came out. Cube really came heated and stepped up to another level. I dont think it gets enough respect..

AS FAR AS RAPPIN GOES CUBE FELL OFF HALFWAY THRU PRODUCING LETHAL INJECTION. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TREND FOLLOWING TYPE OF CAT. DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE CUBES CLASSICS BUT WHEN IT WAS COOL TO BE A MUSLIM HE GREW HIS FRO OUT, WHEN IT WAS COOL TO BE A SERIAL KILLA THATS WHAT HE WAS, HE WAS A GANGSTA, NOW HES A BUSINESS MAN. IM GLAD HE LEFT RAP ALONE. I LOVE HIS MOVIES BUT REALLY DONT DIG HIS NEW MUSIC. THE PREDATOR WAS THE LAST SOLID ALBUM HE DROPPED. BACK TO BACK BANGS.

You have to understand this game, every rap artist wanna do movies now, Cube been doing movies. Cube got more money doing movies then the rap game, so eventually he'll pursue the big screen, he started the gangsta shit, now every other artist wanna put out a DvD, they're just following Cube's lead. He's executive producer, producer, screen writer, the whole 9ine behind his movies and he's the one that creates the vision in the movie so he doesn't have time to write a Cube hip-hop album. Anyone of Cube albums will be tighter than anything 50 Cent ever put out. When It's time for a Cube release on Aftermath, trust me. It'll be a "HEATER" Dre Production, possible Eminem and 50 Cent feature.

Sure. One thing you can say for Cube as a movie-maker is that he's not content to just act--he wants to do everything: direct, produce, write scripts himself, etc. Even if not EVERY movie he's been in has succeeded (DANGEROUS GROUND, for instance), at least he's the boldest challenger out of most of the rappers who make films.

Don't forget that Cube's helped popularize and/or introduce new actors/actresses/comedians, etc. into the movie/TV game: Chris Tucker, John Witherspoon, Bernie Mac, Mike Epps, and Lisa Raye, to name a few. I also like how, in the films Cube himself writes, he gives the majority of the best lines to the other stars--not to himself. Cube usually plays the "straight man" and lets Mike Epps, Chris Tucker (or whoever) get the laughs. That's cool, IMHO.

And yeah--as a rapper, Cube, even at his "worst", is still better than a lot of rappers at their "best." I'll take "Supreme Hustle" (from PEACE) over "Girls, Girls, Girls" (Jay-Z) any day! LOL!

PEACE!

Ice Cube's movies have the biggest turn per spending to make the movie to money earned at the box office. He had every major movie company in a bidding war for him. He ended up resigning with New Line Cinema for 200 million!
