he made 150k that fight and cant afford an upgrade from a honda?
NO SHIT, I MAKE LESS THAN THAT A YEAR AND ROLL ME A YUKON...
A BOXING MATCH WOULD GET HIM SERIOUS PAY...

I THINK ONCE A TOP TIER MMA FIGHTER FIGHTS A RECOGNIZABLE BOXING NAME...THE MMA PURSES WILL GO UP.

well you gotta factor in taxes. Then, and maybe I'm wrong about this and Strikeforce you get free training, but in boxing at least, you gotta pay your trainers, cutman, and everyone else working in your camp. So that $150 could be like $50 after everything is said and done.

Nick has some pretty good hands in MMA, but I'm not sure how well his style translates into boxing. He's effective mostly in MMA because of his volume of punches, and the angles which he throws them from. A lot of the punches that slip through the guard in MMA won't do that in boxing, because of the size of the gloves.

I know he spars with Andre Ward, but I think a guy like Vargas, even as fat and past his prime as he is now, might give Nick some problems.

Would be interesting to see.

yeah not sure how much he pays for training at cesar gracie but he also is getting endorsement money for all the ads on his shorts so he definitely makes enough money to upgrade. it reminds of to an extent of sprewell rejecting that nba contract worth millions because he needed to feed his family

damn, hersche'ls only gettin 5g'z?? lol ..but see, thats how you can tell he's really fighting for the love of the sport.

i liked how he was humble in his interview-- he never said he wanted to be the BEST. @ his age, that just isnt possible, & i'm sure he knows that. but i could see him being a solid fighter for the years he has left in him. i doubt we'll ever see dude fight more than twice a year, but i'm sure everytime he comes out he'll give it 100% & put on a good show. he still has alotta power. the only question for me is his chin & sub defense. both pretty big questions lol. but its hard not to root for the guy..
dont think hes only making 5k. that is disclosed salary. you dont know how much hes getting paid in "bonus" money

Your right, he has to pay Cesar Gracie, Cesar is his manager and his trainer, as well as the other couple guys that are part of his training camp, boxing coach and what not.

Nick is able to make a comfortable living off of fighting but he's not some rich guy.

I also want to give it up to Walker, he fights because he wants to, not about money or fame just for the love of MMA. He also is not out there asking for some high profile fights.

there's still only like 3-4 guys with the wrestling and sub defense to beat him though. GSP & Fitch definitely, but I think he'd still win half the time against Kos, Ellenberger, Stun Gun, Kampmann, Hughes... And he'd fuck up every striker. Alves' arms are too short, would look just like the Cyborg fight.
