I listen to a select few of sountracks/scores on a regular basis. I feel that a soundtrack can really make or break a movie. It sets the mood, tone, emotion, and can lead you through a movie. However, sometimes having no music can set the rigth mood as well.

Here are some soundtrack/scores that I enjoy heavily:

The Gladiator
Layer Cake(my favorite song ever is on here)

Stigmata(my favorite Bjork song is on here)
Saw II & III
Hero
Oldboy
Sympathy For Lady Vengeance
Brotherhood Of The Wolf
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy(the extended versions)

Games:
Silent Hill 2-4
Castlevania(SOTN,Lamment Of Innocence)

Check out the Miami Vice soundtrack. I think it's right up your alley and that you will enjoy it alot. There is a nonpoint cover of In The Air Tonight. It's sweet.

As far as games go:
Chrono Cross
Digital Devil Saga/Avatar Tuner
Noir (Anime not a game but the soundtrack is one of the best)
Guilty Gear XX or Isuka <----not my thing but you may dig it

I actually didnt like the Miami Vice album other than the cover song.

Im gonna look for those game OST's. Thanks.

Prob. my favorite movie soundtrack is to Donnie Darko. It's great especially if you like 80's music (good 80's music that is lol.) The score is alright I guess, then again I'm not really into movie scores. The soundtrack to the movie is awesome though.

You might also want to check out the Friday Night Lights soundtrack (11 out of the 14 songs are done by Explosions In the Sky)

Both of those are just soundtracks. Like I said I'm not really big on scores, or video game music for that matter either.

I didnt add Friday Night Lights in there becuase i just view it as a EITS album.

I forgot to llist Donnie Darko, i made this list at 7:30 AM, dagnabgbit, cut me some slack!

Garden State and The Big Lebowski have a good OST's to.

Scores are dope. i guess it lets me picture the movie in my head. Oldboy eespcially, the score is awesome. I think you woudl like it, so im gonna UL and let you decide.

Purple Rain & Batman hahaha.
Requiem For A Dream is a great one too. And Team America just cuz it's funny as fuck.

My girl listens to a lot of video game ost's, her favs are all of the Final Fantasys and both Kingdom Hearts.
