This shits hella been on my mind since I was reading that topic about Nortenos up in the Bay. I was reading about Nortenos in the Bay are influenced by "Black culture" and wear brands like Fubu/Ecko/Phat Farm/etc. They also say the word nigga. Someone replied that they don't ever say it and only sometimes to make a joke in the Valley. I just wanted to get it off my chest that HELLA nortenos I know from SAN FRAN MISSION use that word like a mothafucka. They always sported up in those brands I mentioned above. There are still some cholo looking Nortenos, but in the Bay they are over run by the "black culture" influenced Nortenos!!

pues, people are influence by thier surroundings, the bay is,in many ways,a culture of it's own. It's very much influenced by money, therefore we tend to be eccentric in our ways. You can catch coner in a ice berg velour suit with his gold and diamond grill, yet the fact may it be,he's still a fucken' cholo.Being locked up for eight years all I knew was Ben's and Chuck's and when i got out I found myself slowly but surely going from ancho blue to phat farm to ice berg to burberry, why? One simple reason, cause i can do that. After eight years of being torcido and wearing blue jeans and white tee's you can please belive that i'm now so infatuated with money.Down fall or not, pride won't let me settle for less.I don't ever prejudge a homeboy for the way they dress or the way they talk.Same goes for those homeboys who rap.You can tell their orgin by their style. What it comes down to is the niggas cora'.Braids or bald, ben's or coogi,a bicth ass vato is a bicth ass vato.Soy ese lil.coner.

WORD There's a time to blend in and a time to stand out. It don't make any sense whatsoever to not respect the politics of the environment one finds himself in. Money is power. If you really want power, be as money as you can be. You can't be money by looking like you got none. Therefore, you can't get power. Simple, no?

I DON'T KNOW...

I GUESS IT'S DIFFERENT DOWN HERE. BECAUSE OVER IN TX THAT'S HOW YOU CAN DISTINGUSH SUR FROM NORTE OTHER THEN COLORS. NORTENOS DOWN HERE ARE MOSTLY CHICANOS & A FEW WHITES THEY ALL DRESSED IN FUBU PLATINUIM,PHAT FARM,ECKO,SEAN JOHN,ROC-A-WEAR,WU WEAR AND ALL THAT GEAR. SURENOS ARE ALL CHICANOS AND USUALLY DRESSED IN BEN DAVIS, DICKIES, SOLID COLOR SHIRTS OR THOSE SQUARE BUTTON SHIRTS. THE SURENOS ARE MOSTLY ALL BALD OR HAIR SLICK BACK. THE NORTES HERE DON'T HAVE A SPECIFIC HAIR STYLE. THE LATIN KINGS & THE NORTENOS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO SAY "NIGGA" HERE AND THERE ARE NO BLACK PEOPLE WITHIN LIKE A 4 HOUR RADIUS OF THE VALLEY.

OH..

BECAUSE THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WHAT'S AROUND YOU INFLUENCING YOU. AND THERE'S NO BLACK PEOPLE AROUND US DOWN HERE. AND THE LATIN KINGS & NORTENOS STILL SAY "NIGGA" AND ARE HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY THE BLACK CULTURE WAY OF DRESSING. SO IT'S DIFFERENT BECAUSE THERE IS NO BLACK CULTURE TO BE INFLUENCED FROM DOWN HERE. CLOSETS CITY WITH A BLACK POPULATION LEVEL ABOVE 5% WOULD BE SAN ANTONIO WICH IS 4.5 HOURS AWAY FROM THE VALLEY.

times and areas are obviously different. i been all over this nation. out here in new york, all races in the ghetto sport the same type shit, a matching outfit with some timberland boots. in oklahoma, it's mostly some jeans with a kinda nice shirt like nautica, polo, shit like that for the most part. i got homeboys who are black as you can imagine andi would say i prolly dress more like they typically do as opposed to how most chicanos do in california. i sport jeans and a jersey or a sweatshirt or a nice shirt most of the time. i have definately been influenced by black homeboys and most of them never hesitate to say that chrisdogg is a "nigga." i can't call it but the influence is definately there across the board for homeboys in the bay and northern cali for the most part and i think that is really apparent

The thing u gotta realize is the bay is definitely its own culture...
for example would someone from LA understand if u said " urrie urrie" or the fact that folks say "blood" as the northern cali version of "esse" (except crabs of course) there is definitely a bay culture that influences everyone

I don't think you cats understand my terms and ways spoken.I come from one of the only varrios in the bay thats puro raza.Years of interacting and bonding with certain gente, crips or bloods, basically real fucking thug lords, you develope your own lingo and repitoire. The issue that surenos wear bens and cascades is bullshit.Check out one who's pushing a lil. wieght or knows how to move with the traffic and you'll see different.I got homeboys my age who still to this day wake up in stacy's and real pendeltons. The color scheme is an obvious.Trust me regaurdless of the affiliation,if they we're raised or influence through a certain era then it's gonna influence their persona.I done rapped to vatos from san fer to grape st,from bakers to wilmas, and their persona has nothing to do with them being surenos. As with my homeboys from Visa to Delano, from San Jo to Fresno, and my Varrio to Sacra, amongst a vatos own hood there's differences in upbringings therefor, alterate a niggas persona. When it comes to the core,a person is measured on a niggas cora'.The way you carry yourself is far more then simple word play, and is a direct attribue of a vatos characteristic.

"Tru dat"-- I feel you Lil Coner, and I kinda feel stupid using some terminologu myself like "tru dat" and "fo sho" that are fo sho all new to my people. But still with everything in flux I see a whole lot of opportunity for people to move beyond the limits other people try to put on em to keep em down. My dad was all Pendletons and Ben Davis but now that he's passed it's nice to be able to blend in when and where I want or stand out when and where I want cuz so far it only opens more doors without disrespecting the past. I don't normally care to use words like "faggot," either, cuz they not even on my mind, but I do notice there's more to the meaning of some words like that that half the rest of the world really don't get unless they got a clique with their own alternate word uses.

Around here, if the homeboy is down and black people respect him they never trip if he calls another homeboy nigga or another black homie nigga. Shit I aint even gonna hate blood, cuz sometimes when I get heated I throw the word nigga in and my black crippin homies dont even trip. But its all different in the bay I guess mane. Aint nowhere on the globe like the Bay. We got all kinds of cultures, from blacks to latin culture, mixed into one. THE BAY CULTURE. I didn't want to come out like I was trying to spit hate, I was just trying to let some of yall homies know thats how it is in the bay.

Im feeling this post cause I was at a party in Tulare county and some preety boy fools were all fubu and phat farmed out. They were irritating the hell out of me. I was kicking it with some hina and one of them went up to me and said "what up nigga". That shit had me amped up. I went up to one of them and said "que onda ene". and he said "nada ene". This shit had me confused. I started talking to the ene and he said that that is how they get down. that they listen to tejano music and norteno rap. They didn't seem to be too influenced by hip hop. They said that they dress like that to get the hoes. Most of the time we were speaking spanish to one another. (I get kinda mad at that cause to me they should be more concerned with the cause). N E ways I kicked it with them and like four of them were solid ass homies. I personally dont flaunt the name brands cause 1. I can't afford them and 2. they really arent me. I guess thats just one of their slang. This to me was the first time I heard an ene in the central valley use the word nigga, so freely.
