Read up on the shit a little more...as long as the schools are allowing children the option of bringing their own shit to school - I don't have a problem with it.

I still think it's way too fucking overboard, a waste of time and tax money to pass A BILL with a statewide BAN....they could have excommunicated sodas from the lunch menu in a much simpler way.

Bottom line, they're not restricting any personal freedoms from what I see, but they're going a little overboard with the bill.

Fuck that shit, they should just offer more drinks like snapple and that kinda shit, not ban sodas all together. Thats dumb as fuck. I been drinkin sodas everyday for years, I ain't fat, matter of fact, I'm in nice ass shape. They just needa get them lil fat fuck kids out running miles and shit, not lettin them walk that shit. Stop tryna blame other people for kids being fat, its their own fault. You can make more choices available but banning things is bullshit.

and i dont , as a taxpayer, like seeing half of my paycheck missing so those lil bastards can drink soda and eat taco bell for lunch but cant meet state requirements for standard reading. Take out the vending machines
your tax dollars dont pay for them to drink soda, taco bel or pizza hut. the kids have to bring their won money to purchase these products.

ya and now alote of the athletics deptartments are going to have to cut alote of athletic programs because those vending machines were making alote of money for them.
Yea but the ban is only on sodas. Coporate companies will start catering to the needs of the school now that this law is passed. For example, Pepsi will probly eventually vend Gatorade (which they own) and Sobe. So the revenues will still exist.

but what is the difference between gatorade and pepsi?? is it that much??

i got a 12 ounce gatorade right here in front of me and it says that it has 90 calories and 22 grams of sugar. i thought i heard here earlier that a pepsi has 28g of sugar??? if so is there that big a difference??

yea but Gatorade isnt acidic, doesnt have caffeine, and isnt carbonated.
Gatorade is water, flavor, salt, and sugar, essentially. And besides that, Gatorade is proven to help hydrate (those commercials with the people running aint no joke).

By the way, they also got these flavored waters out like Gatorade Propel and Aquifina Essentials, which have only a few calories and taste pretty good, but they are too expensive.

This is most retared law I've ever heard in my life. Ban Sodas??? Sodas is NOT the reason why kids is so fuckin huge these days. You and your parents should be blamed for eating unhealthy shit everyday.

Fuck it, they might as well should ban all snacks, doritos, burgers, pizzas, fries, snickers, Kit-Kats and shit like that, from every household in California that has a person under the age of 16. Hey, that sounds better than Grey Davis's retared ass law.

OR, when you go to a liquir store, if you want to buy anything that has sugar in it, you have to provide the store owner with a valid california ID that states you are at the legal age limit (16) to purchase a sugary product. How about that?????

Show me some ID for that sprite bottle you got in your hand....

Mccleanhatch is actually correct. Soda, juice, and any FLAVORED beverage besides water contains concentrated sugar. Whether it comes from a natural source or a carbonated source, sweet flavored beverages (even gatorade) make you fat. Take it from a fitness buff.
