So i just bought i new samsung LED smart tv and it's pretty fuckin dope! The one weird thing i noticed was when i watched movies it almost looked so clear that it was cheezy looking..lol It was like you were there in person watching a play or somethin? In one aspect it was cool because it's the clearist picture i've ever seen on a tv but on the other hand it doesn't really feel like you're watching a movie?

Anyway i figured out that the reason it looks like that its called the "soap opera effect," this happens because they add more frames per second to counter act the "judder" effect. When images on your screen move super fast i guess they have a tendency to get blurry so it's supposed to fix that problem. I figured out how to turn this feature off by turning off the "auto motion plus." Now movies look normal. The thing is now i can't decide which looks better! One is super clear but almost to clear and the other is still a great picture but not as clear as it could be?

Anyway i'm bored what do yall that have LED tv's think?

My buddy has a a TV that's 120 or 240 MHz Tv and that shit looks fuckin' unnatural.

Everything looks like it's moving in fast forward. The best way I can describe it, is that it feels like you're watching a "making of" the movie instead of watching the movie. He kept telling me I would get used to it, but I never did.

I'll stick with my 60 MHz TV.

I'm totally used to it now. But yeah, when I first watched hdtv over at my dad's, I experienced the soap opera effect. It was weird. I guess I've become accustomed to it now.
You do know you can turn it off....right?

that shits only for sports
Or any live programming. I hate that shit. And ive never witnessed blurring or ghosting without it on during sports, so i just leave it alone all together.

i've had an led for a long time and never really noticed it till you guys mentioned this. i watch a lot of news, docs stuff like that. not that many movies. i do play games on it though.

i started fucking with my features just to see what your talking about. on mine i had to set something to "high" instead of "auto" and i noticed it . that shit look funny as fuck!

i'll get back to it today cause i burned some movies to dvd last night on the comp. but i tested it on charlies angels on hbo or showtime last night that shit look hella weak hahaha!

This is how my brothers TV was when he bought it. Personally I cannot stand the way it looks, and there IS an option to turn it off. To me it looks like the background is fake, like some kind of prop.

just adjust the 120 to 60 for movies. that 120 should only be used for live events like football or a fight. but watching a movie with it sucks.

I just turn off the "auto motion plus" which is probably the same thing and movies look normal. For regular tv and video games i think that shit looks sick tho!

I was playing "Infamous 2" last night with the "auto motion plus" on and i think it's the best lookin picture i've ever seen from a video game!

120 or 240 is going to make movies look normal since movies are 24fps and 24 goes evenly into 120 and 240. The problem you're likely having is with the auto motion plus.
