Overall it was a good year for Strange, as they finally got all their releases out in one year as planned (remember: that Strange Music library CD is almost two years old!), and these albums were getting full page ads in major rap publications. I would like to know how much everything besides Tech actually sold, though.
Killer was great for the most part. Wouldn't say perfect, but it was solid nonetheless. The dude's banged out three full tours in one year (including the latest), and probably got the most press he's had in a good while. Strange probably didn't think it was worth trying to get Tech's video on TV...with TRL and Rap City dying off, reality is almost no one cares about music videos on TV anymore. Get it on YouTube and promote it there. That said, I do wish they'd put out Like Yeah BEFORE Killer dropped.
Kaliko's album is straight but I was a bit disapointed. Prozak's is cool, he stepped his game up and it's solid overall. Can't help but think they could've promoted it a bit more n a bit better, given the stellar (I know that's suggestive) guest line-up. S&S was straight as well, though I dig Urban Legends more at this point.
I'm copping Kutt and Grave Plott at the Mokena show Nov 8. Say what you want about GP, but hell they could've did a little more promo for that album as well, given the guest line-up on there. I'll cop Ill Bill's at his halloween show here in chicago. Strange did falter on that one, the guest line-up on that CD is sick, and it would've broaden the label's awareness (and fan base) a bit more.
