I need the help of you computer wizards out there in siccness land.

I just went to open up my folder that contains all my Mp3's on my secondary hard drive. But it's empty.

Atleast it says it's empty. All the other folders and programs on that drive have all their files and all work fine. But the My Music folder i have on there has nothing in it anymore.

The strange thing is if i open up a music player iTunes or Winamp the files i had in playlists and such all still play. So they've still gotta be on the computer. Also if i right click and go to where the file is it goes to my secondary drive in the my music folder and opens up the folder that contains that track, but if i try and look at the full my music folder it shows that it's empty.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Also my soulseek has been acting very very strange in the last day or so, related problem?

Theyre definitely there. The folder might have been put on "hidden" status somehow, which would hide all your files.

try going to your mp3 directory.. hitting Folder Options on the tab-menu up top... go to Folder Options.. click the VIEW tab... look about halfway down where it says something about "hide", "do not hide". see whats up

did that, hide was not checked

the drive itself shows that 40 Gig of space is still taken up, so i know they are still on there somewhere and i can still play the ones that were loaded in my music players so they still have to be there, but when i try and view the files in the folder they were in it says that folder doesn't have anything in it.

Gotta say now i appreciate everyone/anyone's help with this even if the problem never gets solved, but keep droppin any ideas on me i can use all the help i can get

mannnn, when I have PC problems, I do the self-fix method, then the friend-fix method;
When both fail, I take my shit to BEST BUY GEEK SQUAD.

For $30-$60 bones-your PC will be better than brand new, yes-I said better than brand new.

When my computer starts doing wierd shit that I don't have a clue to fix what I do is this:

Go to start menu, click on RUN. type in msconfig

A box will pop up that and on the bottom it should say something like "launch system restore" Then I just set my computer back to a date when everything was all good.

open the playlists, and copy the location of an mp3, like say "C:\my music\common\be.mp3" and copy that into the address bar of explorer....

Did that, works fine, but it still doesn't show the folders. I can get to them, but if i open up the drive and then the my music folder it still shows it empty, even though i can type in C:\my music\common\be.mp3 and then see it, if i go back it shows it with nothing there.

I'm not very computer smart, but maybe this will work:

Open up My Computer.. click on 'tools' at the top then open up 'Folder options' click on the tab 'view' then make sure 'Show hidden files and folders' is clicked.

ok, download firefox install it, and instead of "C:\my music common\be.mp3" type "file:///C:/my music/common/" do you see the list of files in the directory?

I don't get what firefox has to do with anything?

When i do that it takes me to the common folder, and i can see everything in it just fine, but then when i go just to the my music folder i still can't see any folders or files in it. Even though i was just in the common folder that's in the my music folder.

Do you have any Linux live cds, or a BartPE disk? My friend had this same problem and I ended up reformatting his drive because he feared it was a virus, and didn't care for the data kuz he thought all the data would spread the virus. You do a virus scan? I only bring up trying a Linux live cd or a BartPE disk to see if the folder contents are viewable outside a Windows environment. If you don't, I say go here http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php and download one. I would recommend Knoppix because it automatically puts icons for all of your hard/floppy/usb drives on the desktop. It's pretty damm fast for not having to install any software, and the burning program it has is the shit. I hear KANOTIX is pretty good too.
