Tech N9ne is turning 38 years old this year
Expected a great album, didn't enjoy..
I love me some Tech, but this CD disappointed the shit outta me. It's no coincidence that the 2 best songs ("Red Nose" and "Blown Away") are the only solo Tech tracks. For the most part, every guest brings down the track. Other than Kaliko, literally no one can hang with Tech (Kutt's got his moments, but for the most part, no) which leads to every song starting good and then going downhill fast.
Furthermore, the hooks on most of the songs are pretty "meh" and a good 3/4 of the album is the same ol' party-and-or-sex songs that Tech has been doing more and more of since Absolute Power. We get it dude, you party and fuck a lot more and better than everyone else. Good for you. The best music is stuff people can relate to. As none of us here at SFU are rock stars, none of us have millions of dollars and we don't fuck supermodels, regardless of how we might act. No one can relate to that shit, therefore it becomes boring.
For every good track on this CD, there's another song like "Creepin" that I listened to about 2 minutes of and skipped to the next track.
So yeah, honestly, I'm disappointed. I know this was a "collabos" and that was the point, but is it too much to ask for a 15-20 song Tech album with no guests and no songs about how much he parties and how many times he's fucked my wife? I'm so sick of guests. Even Everready and Killer had too damn many. And while I think Kaliko is amazingly talented, the songs are all sounding the same because he's on every goddamn hook.
Next Tech album, I don't want a single guest. I don't even want Kaliko doing hooks. I want some shit like Anghellic, where it was just Tech, hungry to prove himself, not trying to showcase all his friends on every song.
Tech + Krayzie = interesting. Tech + Crooked I & Chino XL is even sorta interesting. Tech with Popper, Craig Smith, Nesto, Messy Marv, Big Ben, Shadow, or B.G. goddamn Bulletwound is fucking boring and I don't even know who half those goddamn people are.
Sorry, I'm just sort of pissed. I wanted to like this album so bad. Tech has more talent than this. It almost pisses me off to see him squander it.
