i believe jesus was real and i believe even the shroud may be real, i just dont think its jesus in the shroud. the carbon dating is one thing, but when in the process of him being killed did everybody stop and get him to lie down perfectly still covered in enough blood to imprint it on a shroud and create this thing. was it before they nailed him to the cross or what? maybe im a little fuzzy as to what the story is behind this, but im not really sure how the whole thing went down.

SO, i watched another show about this last night on Discovery Channel called Da Vinci's Shroud, which basically makes a case for the Shroud Of Turin being a hoax and being done by Leonardo Da Vinci. It was quite interesting and the whole idea that Da Vinci may have taken the first "photograph" ever is pretty effin cool. It is alleged that he a used a camera obscura to create the shroud and the claim is that it is actually Da Vinci's face portrayed in it, not Jesus.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camera_obscura

Its a cool theory to ponder. Here is a youtube video i found connecting Da Vinci and not only the shroud, but the Mona Lisa painting (who some claim is actually based off of Da Vinci's own facial structure). The music is hilarious and it is just thrown together and has ZERO to do with the show i watched, but gives a quick rundown of what i am talking about.

Welcome to page 2!!

lmao

Sorry, i had forgotten you posted that.

Anyhow, this program aired for the first time last night, i caught it, and remembered this thread. They left out some things that the initial documantery had pointed out, like the fact that the corner they carbon dated was skewed becuase it was a re-stitched corner.
not on topic, have you noticed how much religious/supernatural stuff has been on all those Discovery and History channels recently? (or last couple years). Shits annoying, those are basically the only channels I watch besides HBO.

Last night, on TLC, Discovery, and the HIST channel, they showed nothing but shit about Jesus/the bible. I couldnt piece it together until my girl reminded me that Easter was upon us. Doh!

They show that stuff becuase they are the most contreversial things as far as evidence and theories go. I mean sure, the likely hood that god exists is very slim, but there are 1000000X (i dont know the exact number) as many religious people in the world than non-religious.

And when you are dealing with History, you are going to have nothing but questions and answeres because nothing was actually witnessed by anyone alive today.

It just sucks when I tune in to my science and history channels & they have a bunch of topics that have very little science, if any, and unproven, inaccurate or highly skeptical/controversial history.

i dont think its the burial shroud of jesus. i think it was probably created in the middle ages. the image of jesus is the way he was portrayed in the middle ages in europe. I remember on the discovery channel they had a show about "the true face of jesus". It made a face of the average man from the levant in jesus' time period and culture.

doesnt really look like the dude on the shroud does it? lol..of course i dont kno what jesus looked like tho so i dont kno for sure
