Has anyone looked into this thing? I never even knew it existed or what it was, until I saw a show about it on I think Discovery (might have been NatGeo). Anywho, for those who do not know what it is, it isaid to be the cloth that jesus was wrapped in after his crucifixation. The reason people say this, is because of the strange image on the cloth of a person that is in a buried position, with a face resembling what Jesus is said to look like. The did all kinds of testing on it and there is no dye of any kind on it, and the stains of human blood appear to be on it.

I didnt provice much else besides the Wili page, just because I think people should look into it themselves. There are tons of websites on it and a plethora of info on the web itself. Bizarre to say the least.

I thought I just saw somewhere that they "proved" it was fake?
Could be. Not suer when the program was made, but a some couple from Ohio proved the carbon dating they did to be skewed. Last they checked, they were waiting for an OK from the Vatican to look at it again, however it may not be able to be CD'ed again because of some chemical they sprayed on it to keep it from deterierating.

I think the carbon dating has proved that the shroud was more than likely made in the middle ages, some even suggest by Leonardo Da Vinci, which would explain it being so close to authentic.

That was the skewed CD test i was referring to. THe corner in which the scienitsts carbon dated, was part linen/part cotton. IN the middle ages, it was apparently reparied using a french invisible re-weave, in which two fabrics are literally weaved right into the other fabric. They later found a "adhesive" made of wax and that the interwoven cotton had been dyed to match the color of the linen. So bascially, when they did the carbon dating, they actually tested two materials at once, thus giving an inaccurate date. The person who confirmed this, Ray Rogers, died of cancer before he could carry on with further testing. He published his last paper on this that is approved by the scientific community.

Here is a book recently published about the shroud, from the scientists prespective:

I am trying to find the publicaton from Raymond Rogers about his findings an admittance to the carbon dating being fucked up.

It looks like a tie dye... symmetrical image.

A business savvy scientist would take DNA from the blood stains and clone Jesus - and make the ultimate evangelical boy-band. Rake in the dough.

some show on the history channel carbon dated it and studied it , it came from the middle ages and if you'er talkin about god tangible things dont matter anyway, its called faith , shits fake
This show aired last night for the first time, which makes it the most recent one. It refutes the carbon dating...it was proven to be WRONG. That is the whole point. Did you even READ anything i posted?

History channel doc came out in 2005: http://www.amazon.com/Historys-Mysteries-Shroud-History-Channel/dp/B000BKVL8O

The one on the Discovery channel was filmed THIS year, and came about after the Ohio Shroud Conference that REFUTED the evidence of carbon dating, and was accepted as legit by SOME of the scientific community:
