It's all relative to the listener, exactly. But in terms of todays cholo rap music and it's intent, it's cut-and-dry. Surenos dis Nortenos, Nortenos dis Surenos. I think DRF started the whole FUCK THE OTHER SIDE on wax thing sometime in the early 90's (14 vs 13 that is, obviously Crips and Bloods did it before that). Kid Frost wasnt talking about it before then (nor now) and Chicano rap as a whole was more brown pride-ish. Unlike a small town with one gang against another or no rivals or whatever it is that happens in certain areas up there, shit down here is very particular and the numbers of separate sets is astounding. The fact that they are all Surenos makes it more likely that they will purchase Sureno rap music which ~vaguely~ describes their lifestyle, if at all, and which sometimes describes a ~vague~ disliking of something (X4) that most Surenos can agree with regardless of if they ever come across a Norteno in their lives. Just because a dude from THE LOTT and a dude from KING KOBRAS and yet another dude from JARDIN all buy Sureno rap and get a kick out of hearing Nortenos get dissed, that doesnt mean their beefs amongst one another are in any way less serious. You think they wouldnt get more of a kick out of hearing one another get dissed because it hits closer to home? I'm thinking yes. If an album by a dude from JARDIN came out called "_UCK THE LOTT AND KING KOBRAS" do you think it would sell as well to Surenos across the board as a more general pro-Sureno album?
