What we need to do is subsidize a large-scale, government-assisted program to 1. teach migrants English, 2. Give them a basic education, and 3. Get them into community college/night school etc., to teach them some saleable skills.

That is all that needs to be said! I have no problem with opening the borders to those who want to better themselves in a possitive manner. The thing I don't want is for spanish-to-english dictionaries to be best sellers nationwide. I prefer to speak english in America, to every damn body. Very well said.

Cubans in Florida I believe have that 2 foot rule, if they have 2 feet on American soil meaning on the beach they can stay in America. However the coast guards are pretty tough and they catch em right when they a foot level of water. Shit is kind of like a football game you see these Cubans juking the hell out of the coast guards and you also have the coast guards tackling them right before they cross. Then you have the Cubans in the background for support cheering them... I saw it on TV awhile ago.

What if I (an American) run and throw a block for a passing Cuban, can the guards bring dude back to Cuba based on a technicality? Or do they put him back in the water for a redo?

And saying that's it's easier to catch a boat then someone in a car? That's true if you are not searching for them in cars or on foot coming here. For example, there is checkpoint in a city called Temecula (about 30-45 minutes north of San Diego) and those officers there just wave any person through. I could have five illegal immigrants in my car and they wouldn't even care to check, even if they were visible.
