I think it kind of sucks and is unfair that pretty much only the rich can truely enjoy what our tax dollars pay for.

There's some poor kids out there that have never been to Disney Land, but yet their struggling parent's tax dollars go to paving the streets that lead to to it.

Same goes for education and so many other resources that most poor/middle class pay for, but can't truely enjoy.

That's life I suppose, but a bit unfair as well when you think of it.

No matter how much you contribute in taxes, being a working, law abiding American citizen, you should be able to enjoy some of it's benefits IMO.

That's just not true

lol you're acting like "rich" people don't pay taxes. There's no break down that says whose tax dollars go where. So only the "poor" peoples taxes went to paving that street?

I'm not rich but I understand that taxes are part of society. To say that poor kids don't get the benefit of their parents taxes is just wrong. Taxes go to paving streets, education, police forces, welfare programs, and so on.

Lets forget about tax rates for a second, because the real issue is what the taxes are being spent on.

The reps and senators we have elected do not hold and do not carry out the best interests of the people. They are too focused on following party lines and vying forre-election.

Being a democratic nation, i feel that we should use voting more often. We already know that the people we elected to office rarely pursue what we want (i.e. bank bailouts).

I feel that special votes based on the public's decisions should be held regularly to decide our nations policy. For instance, at any time should there be a far reaching issue, such as going to war or tax hikes, the American people should ultimately decide on the issue. A special poll or caucus should be held to determine the route the country should take based on our opinion. Granted, that's what reps and senators are for, but the politicians of today no longer hold the best interests of our nation. It is an outdated system. Instead, they make their opinions based solely on a guaranteeing themselves a paycheck and future, following the party lines and those who contribute to their campaigns.
