Man, the tech field changes soooooo fast... ITT Tech, Coleman College aint where it's at... Hit a four year young dude... 'Cause a degree (in anything... Journalism, Bio, Math) will get you further than a certificate...

but im trying to get my foot in the door asap. and cant i apply those cert courses towards a bachelor?
A degree is always better than certs of course, but what IT you know ain't certified for somethin? If you build PCs or whatever you should be certified in A+ certification. If your into networking, or some kind of admin you can get certified for Cisco networking or whatever. A degree is for your resume and to help you get a job/career, but if you work on my shit, I'd want to see that you are certified and have a degree. They both coincide and are very helpful. A must if you are lookin career wise.

oh dont trip byron, im takin everything rey is sayin and soakin it up. i want to get my cert so i can just get a job in the field; whether it be sales at best buy or fryes, or a call center tech...and having a cert would get you those types of positions. after my certs i plan on goin straight for the bachelor. like i said though, just to get my foot in the door.

and i called cuyamaca today. i asked if these courses give certs, and she said that the only "certificates" you get are at the end of all the courses, and within your major. i also dont think summer offers CISCO and all that.

edit: ^^^ would that be considered getting certified?

If they provide certs after the course then you get a certificate for completing the class. You can either get a associates after 2 years depending on if you are full time (12 units) or part time (anything less) and 4 years for your bachelors. If you are looking for somethin faster then a certificate class would be necessary, which "could" apply towards your degree. Certs as what I am referring to usually requires a test. For example Cisco Networking has a thick white text book. You study that book and then pay to take the test and if you pass it then you can get certified meaning you are Cisco certified. If you want hands on for example repairing and building computers etc. "HANDS ON" shit then A+ would be necessary and the same shit applies. Same thang for MCSE certs. You can have all kinds. So to answer your question, NO it's not the same thang. That cert only applies to that class. You will have a certificate of completion for that class.

Don't take my word for it though mane. Know that some rules/procedures are constantly updating for students. Everythang I told you was from the best of my knowledge, but a counselor would provide the correct details than the siccness as far as school. Over the phone conversation is not as effective as sitting down with a counselor and planning out your goals for your education my nigg.
