shut the fuck up already, shit yall, I was done with net-shit-talkin back in 2001...
anyway....
Sandman is more talented than almost all the other rappers I've seen listed in this thread... and unlike other people, I can tell you why that is my educated opinion...
1. He produces pretty much all of his own tracks. He's been makin music since he was in grade school, and produced and wrote all of the tracks on King Of Hallucination which he released when he was 16. And it's a fuckin good album. He even teaches a class on beatmaking. If your favorite rapper produces all his own songs and writes all his (or her, I guess) own rhymes, props to them too.
2. His flow is extremely versatile and not one dimensional like many of the rappers I've seen in the lists above. He can go fast, medium, slow, whatever he needs to do to match the beat and it still sounds legit, not "forced"
3. He actually has lyrical content. He's not just rappin about the streets, or rappin about hoes, or rappin about money... Sure, he spits about all that every now & then, but he spits on an EXTREMELY wide range of subjects, and he stays true to himself and his beliefs. If you get a chance, check out State Of Emergency on myspace. It's his group that he's working with on a black power / political type project, and his rhymes are fire on those tracks. This dude can get just as deep as a certified poet sometimes.
Having said all that, I have to say that some of the tracks I've heard lately (like the new single "Make Me Snap") have been extremely subpar for what I've come to expect from him. I hope he's not starting to sell out because it would be a waste of talent. But as long as he stays true to himself musically, his new album should be damn good.
I havent checked out the tracks in that link, but if its not in there, check out "He Came, He Saw"... it's one of his new ones that showcases how versatile he is...
Just my opinions, take em with a grain of salt if you must
