Even McCown is hoping that JR gets more playing time... Check it:

McCown understands the Raiders need to get Russell on the field.

"I think if you're not playing for the playoffs this year, you play for the playoffs next year," McCown said. "You can't roll into next year – this is assuming he's the starter – you can't roll into next year and have him not played in games."

Especially one that could "stretch" the field. Porter and Curry don't have the speed to blaze by anyone. I see your point about us not having the personnel to run those sets but every now and then won't hurt so JR could get a feel for those confusing zone blitzes, cover zero coverages, etc...

russell should play for the next 2 games get him use to starting next year

and i do agree with yall that we need a few new wr's i thought higgins would have playin time i think he could be a good in the nfl

Why try and let him get into a groove if theres only two games left. There not trying to get him in a groove. they are trying to make it as though when he does start next year hes not completely overwhelmed. Just getting his feet wet. We dont need him this year.

I doubt culpepper will be around next year but mccown might still. I don't think there is any question that russell will be the starter next season. Now that he's signed he'll be able to participate in all the offseason programs and training camp which will prepare him unlike this season.

Well Tony you got what you wanted. I told you it would be a bad idea to just give him the whole horse against this defense on the road. Raiders do not have any good Wide-outs by far that fit this system.
