He wasnt with cash money until last year. remember he was pushing and putting his own money behind his shit and making moves networking with major artists thats how he blew up. He was riding and touring with wayne long before he got signed to young money/universal bc wayne repected him. go do your research about it.
one thing though dont forget rap game is iffy now. meaning drake could pay someone (canibus or somebody like that or a battle rapper) to write him a quick diss track that would burn royce.

When it comes to written battle raps, I don't know of many rappers that can see Royce. IMHO, he has been the most consistent MC on the mic for the past 2yrs....lyrically that is. Drake is not even in the same lane at all. Drake it good for HipHop in his own right though. He's bringing a different flavor with his flow and the singing/melodic shit. But Royce would slay him and his "Ghost Writer" easily. Just like when he baited FAB.....he destroyed him. Check this link out. By far the hardest diss track in a very long time.
