For those shouting from the rafters that Jones is "legit" and to give him his props, c'mon now, Jones said it himself after the fight when asked about his victory over Ruiz. He did it for the historical value.
Translation: His aim never was to become the undisputed HW champ, only to beat one and claim a belt. Thats all. So he picks the weakest of the lot and out boxes him for 12 rounds.
On the historical note, major props to Jones. But really, it was Ruiz ya'll.
When asked about what was next, Jones merely replied that he had no further plans. This was it (see my "Translation" above). When he was pressured about Byrd and others (Tyson, Lewis) he only added that if the situation was right and if it was what the people wanted, he would strongly consider it.
Translation: "Sure, I'll voluteer to get knocked the-FUCK-out by a real HW for the right price."
And why not? How many times have we seen dudes line up for a payday with Tyson? Hell, how many of us here wouldn't jump in the ring with Mike for a cool mil'? Shit, I know I would. The minute he grazes me, I'll just take a dive and close my eyes while thinking of the shade of red of my new Dodge Viper I'm gonna buy.
Seriously though, ice-skating and diving manuvers have difficulty ratings. Though boxing doesn't have "official" ones, we all know the difference between legitimate challenges and cake-walks. And on the scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a broadcasted sparring match and 10 being the Thrilla in Manilla, how would you seriously rate that fight?
Now you know why so many are being greedy with the "props".
