Would you like to see this fight happen? Personally, I'd much rather see this go down than a ODH/Mayweather rematch!

A more important question though might be if Roy can really get down to 156, that might be difficult to do, idk

PENSACOLA, Fla.—An ebullient Roy Jones Jr., energized by his dominating, unanimous-decision win over Felix “Tito” Trinidad at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, says he is ready to take on all comers in the light heavyweight or super middleweight divisions and beyond.

“I told you Roy Jones Jr. is back,” Jones said after his triumph over Trinidad where he twice sent the Puerto Rican legend to the canvas. “I’ll take the winner of either the re-match between Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor or Joe Calzaghe vs. Bernard Hopkins. I’m even willing to go down to 156 pounds to face Oscar De La Hoy in May. Line them up and I’ll knock them down.”

Jones (52-4, 38 KOs) surprised some longtime boxing scribes who didn’t believe he could still muster the skills that made him one of the best and most feared boxers in the history of the sport. Jones showed flashes against Trinidad on Saturday of his rare combination of speed and power that put him atop the lists of pound-for-pound best fighter in the world for a decade.

“I always said that with the right motivation and focus I can still be Superman. I saw it in the gym leading up to the fight and Tito Trinidad and everybody else saw it on Saturday night at the Garden. Like I said, line ‘em up and I’ll knock them down.”

I'd rather see this than Mayweather/De La Hoya II, also...

But Roy was talking about how that huge weight loss after being a heavyweight is what caused his losses (or at least helped cause) to Tarver/Johnson...so it'd be interesting to see if this will happen.

Could be all talk; who knows?

I'd pay for it.

I hate the fact that Roy Jones feels like he's accomplished something by beating ( not even dominating ) a much smaller, inactive fighter. Where the hell was Roy Jones at 10 years ago when there were actually quality fights that he could've, but didn't take. I do admit he does look like he's in good shape, but he's nowhere near the draw that he was in the 90's.

I would much rather see De La Hoya fight Cotto...I think its would be a great fight financially as far as the whole Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry...and would also be a great matchup for Oscar...

Cotto has yet to face anyone with a great jab, and Oscar's size advantage and counter punching ability would give Cotto problems.

I agree with this as well. Cotto and a De La Hoya would be a huge match up. I'd pick Oscar to win by knockout.

“It’s not a done deal as of yet but we are hopeful,” commented Jeff Wald, the executive Co-Producer of The Contender, in response to the FightNews article that Steve Forbes has been selected as Oscar De La Hoya’s opponent for his May 3rd fight, the first of three “Farewell” fights that the “Golden Boy” has proposed for 2008. Wlad acknowledged that he has had “extensive talks” with Golden Boy, but he was quick to point out that no final decision has been made. “Oscar decides who he wants to fight,” commented Wald. “Oscar is a huge superstar and Steve is flattered to have this opportunity.” An announcement of De La Hoya’s challenger in his first “Farewell” fight is expected this week.

Roy is talking hella tough after beating Tito.

I voted I would like to see the fight, even though I think Jones will beat DLH.

He shouldn't deserve to fight the winners of any of the fights he was talking about, because he hasn't proved himself to be up to that caliber.

BUT

Just to put him in his place, I think Roy should fight B-Hop. Hopkins would whoop that ass.

I would prefer this fight too, for the simple fact I believe 100% that Cotto would destroy Oscar and KO him like no one has ever done before (besides Hopkins liver shot KO).

(I don't think this fight would happen though since Oscar promised his wife not to fight any more Puerto Ricans, fag excuse).

Actually, scratch that. No, I think Oscar should be reserved to fighting other aging legends like Roy or even semi-insignificant fighters like Ricky Hatton. He really has no business fighting Cotto or Mayweather, imo.

Interesting though, according to the info surgurliman posted it looks like he's going to be fighting Steve Forbes in May, then Mayweather later in the year. That's complete and utter weak sauce, that's not even mildly spicy. Steve Forbes? wow, yes a tune up fight is what is but damn, that's pretty low on the totem pole. That should be on Friday Night Fights and not even make HBO. I hope Steve Forbes knocks him out though, just so ODH can retire or chose to fight someone other than Mayweather.

Roy was in his prime in his 90's but there wasnt much competition in the middle weight division. Obviously he's tryna cash out with ODH. I'd actually wanna watch it though. See which vet really takes this fight more seriously.
