Ripping Music

What quality do you guys rip your music at? I currently rip at 192kpbs, but am thinking of going down to 160 since the difference is probably undetectable with the computer speakers I have. I'd like to rip at 320 out of principle of having reasonably good quality, but my external is out of action and I only have about 70 gigs of space on my comp. I have to do a cleaning every couple weeks or so. It sucks :ermm:

i do it at 192, i havent tried 160, i guess if you listen to it in headphones you wont be able to detect much difference. However, the higher the quality your sound system is, the more profound would be the difference, but thats only if you have a 128 vs a 192 song. I don't know about 160.

I always rip at 320. I might be imagining the difference between the bit rates though.

I do all mine at 128. Its good enough for my ears.

v0/v2 (VBR) is the best bet imo. I tend to download/rip at v2 because the quality/space ratio is the most proficient. 320 sounds awesome but takes up too much space. But I'm not the one to say I don't listen to anything below X, in fact I have plenty of music at 192, 160 and even 128, but as a preference I choose v2.

I dont know, i SEE people saying VBR is better, but i have used CBR forever and it sounds better IMO. I guess if youre concerned with file size, which i am not, VBR is the way to go. BUt the funny thing is, the amount of space you save between VBR and CBR is going to be around 2-5% MAX.
