SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Investigators do not believe the shooting death of a 29-year-old mother in San Francisco Saturday was related to the shooting death of her father two months ago, an inspector with the city's Police Department said Monday.
Jerri Jackson and her father, Gerald Jackson, 51, were slain one block apart in the city's Western Addition.
Jerri Jackson was shot around 3:30 a.m. Saturday near Eddy and Divisadero streets, police said.
Police responding to a report of multiple shots fired found Jackson, who was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital at 4:11 a.m., police said.
No witnesses have come forward, Inspector Michael Johnson said Monday.
At the scene, investigators found broken champagne flutes, brandy and a boom box. Johnson said it appears Jackson was standing outside drinking with others and that her shooting might have stemmed from an argument.
Jackson's children, including her 3-month-old twins, were with a babysitter when their mother was killed, Johnson said.
Shortly before she was shot, Jackson called the babysitter to say she would not be able to pick up her children that night because she had been drinking, Johnson said.
Johnson called the killing of Jackson's father and the proximity of their deaths an "unfortunate coincidence."
Gerald Jackson was shot in his chest near Scott and Eddy streets on Feb. 24 around 2:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gerald Jackson had "many enemies" and was "on the fringe of criminal activity," Johnson said.
No one has been arrested in his killing but investigators have an idea of who might be responsible, Johnson said Monday.
