check this out, fuck all this bangin shit and baby this lil that and binki pieface and all this shit. WHY, WHY, WHY,WHY,WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY do people dig for ways to divide themselves and make enemies with anyone.
man fuck it, I give up on west coast unity. niggas will remain to act like kids and hooligans without etiquette. i see what the big picture is in sd, it aint egos, it aint money, its NOTHING. niggas is trippin for nothing. read the definition of what that word really means.
West Coast unity wont happen for a while. But some of the people that are a part of hip hop have to start making the move to do it. See, alot of people that dont have a situation have nothing to lose. While the ones that do have a better situation wont have anything to lose either, unless they have ego in the way... once that is in place, you will always want to hold others back for some reason.. whether you feel they are stealing fans, feel that money should go to you, or even afraid to compete. Licwit said it, Bravado is part of hip hop... but there is a line of respect and even the right people giving a helping hand will bolster these boundaries.
Our hip hop, as far as G shit goes, will always be divided. If a crip artist puts out something.. mainly crips are gonna get it. And same with Damu artists. Unless you give them something they can understand and feel.. or respect. I dont think alot of LA crips are gonna pick up Cherry Chuck Gang to bump. I also dont think LA Bloods are gonna bump Blue House shoes. Nothing wrong with what you represent, but its how you present it. I feel that collaborations are the way to do them. It sends a message to others that listen and can even make fans that wouldnt normally bump one's music.
Its gonna be hard to break boundaries do to the fact that the west coast does live the life with serious consequences. Gangs are a big factor in our hip hop as well as being a downfall. I say that because it does create that barrier.. and on some street shit.. it is hard to overcome. It takes people with a moderate mindset to break that barrier. And that barrier is broken thru respect.
Being real is something that I feel is the essence of west coast hip hop. Because we try to build ourselves to be like that. Alot of us have ties to the streets and so the street rules apply to us in away. whether its catching fades or not snitching, in some way, shape or form, most of us do follow those rules. Now, not that dont mean that the same group is out there puttin themselves at risk.
The West is also divided so much on its own. artists in the same turf, artists in the same city, artists in the same region... Everyone gots they own movement.. while some have the talent, but dont have the guidance or structure or even an outlet to help them, but they are hungry too.
How does this pertain to redrum?
I did this for the Damu's and Piru's, but am reaching out to the others.
I have lived and know artists in different regions. Just like man, I've seen the decline of west coast hip hop, but have hope just the fact that I know so many dope artists. Many dont get the exposure they need for what ever reasons. You can apply this to SD too. I've heard so much outta SD that it blows me away that its only in SD that you hear alot of that stuff.
I am not in the music business, but if I could do anything for artists I enjoy or feel, it would be to try and expose their music.
If I can take it a step further, it would be building a foundation or network so artists can be on each others projects (which is promotion and exposure). Once I got redrum, (and you can say what you want/feel, but to me he is one of the most credible artists I know, on the red side) and started to connect all the dots around the west coast. Not just LA, SD, Texas, to the NW to AZ.
To take it a step further, he's done reached out to SD artists, mostly the Bloods, but he reaching out to Point Blank, Quiccshot, and Big Reece? He didnt have to, but he realizes that west coast hip hop is the big picture.. everyone doing music strives to their part... and that can only be respected (as long as everyone is 100 with each other).
