why? i get at "reputable" niggas because they earned that title, and not for doing something good. so i find pleasure in bringing them down from that high horse of being a negative role model.
F3 i feel you all the way G. and gangsta rap, i told someone on here that i stilll listen to it because thats what i grew up to. i know its perverse, but a, you cant take a nigga out of a nigga. ummm. F3 you are probably one of teh only 4 niggas i will explain myself to because I feel that you are a positive figure, so with that said...
1. im not a super intellectual guy, i know im BOOK smarter and contain a lot of practical intelligence that people I argue with do not have. And if I can sense that you are about somethin, I will reason with you and not throw that in your face. like you, judging from your post you are a well honorable man, thats why i dont get at you, and if you hated me or liked me, i still wouldnt get at you foul because i know you deserve respect.
these other niggas think people owe them respect etc. and thats why I fuck with them.
and on the whole disrespect thing, i understand. i swear to God that I dont like disrespecting niggas, but from my own comfort and knowledge (psych 354) people who are doing harm needs to be harmed, its called dirty humbling.
i can go all day F3, i will explain myself to YOU and a couple of others, but thats just the jist of it. like i said F3, i respect you even if you think the worst of me, so anything you want answered, i would proudly answer. and remember, i feel teh same way you do, but you remember when your parent use to say this is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you, thats my case. i dont like puttin down someone i know that been through it, but i believe in dirty humbling, because i seen it work on my teenagers that I work with and myself.... but just for you F3, ill give siccness a full months worth of no dissing from my end, i sense that you are getting tired of it.
ON MARCH 3RD, im gettin at any nigga that post some stupid shit.
Wow, I'm actually surprised mayne. I dont disrespect someone for no reason. I feel that even though any of us might not be a factor, it will give the artists more direction to what they are doing by giving them the feedback they need.
For instance, I didnt like how mitchy promoted his cd in the Big June thread. I know both him and big June.. even though Big June has treated me more of a homey, I still have respect for Mitchy. And I could have easily jumped on some disrespectful things, but I had to check myself. I think enough people mentioned how it looked. Another reason why I didnt say anything, is because if I say it, I need to be able to say it to his face... and be ready for the reprecussions whether Mitch says "You are Right" or "fuck you" and punches me.
As for rum and any other rapper that feels they are overdue on their credit.. in away I feel that. 1) There are people out there that are making the gang more of a fashion that a reality. 2)I feel that real artists, that have live a certain way, should be given their shine. Whether that is Redrum, Mitchy slick, Licwit, or Raine... if they make good music that people feel, they should be given that reward (and yes, this can be broken down even more detail for what music is good/bad/ as you mentioned about gangsta rap).
But who are we to judge these people? I dont judge them because I went thru the same shit they did (in a way). I got locked up, got in many fights.. and even buried homies and relatives over the same shit we all are a part of (gangs). I dont have talent like alot of these guys I've met, so when I came to that crossroad in my life, I chose to try and do better that the streets. It was a struggle ,as any felon trying to do right will tell you, and its easy to fall in to that cycle of mistakes and what not. I feel bad when I hear someone that could have made music being locked up because they still have to live that life for the fact they are not given the opportunity to have a record deal. Now this is my opinion and you can argue that gangstas, thugs and slangers dont deserve a decent opportunity to make music. Yet we have Rick Ross who is making money off someone else's name/actions. I'd rather pay someone that is struggling that pay someone that making fantasies up to me. Shit goes deeper too.
We can bring Game into this too. Billboard should have been put out.. if he did, he might still be alive to this day. But he was kept at bay (like all BWS artists). And what my homies from Westside Piru tell me, they didnt like that. That was their brother. Now if Game was a solid dude, he shouldnt be beefing with people and letting the people under him, handle it. He should handle it himself. Because Game isnt in the streets.. but Menace is. He has to deal with any of the people that cross Game.. on some street shit. You can ask Big Tupp (comes on here as JayAvenue) also part of Wrongkind, but there was an interview with Game not to long ago, but he said something to the effect of "I got artists, I'm not gonna mention their names, they need to hustle like I did..." Yall see where this is going. Thing is, some of this shit is real and people get killed behind it. I saw that interview with 40 Glocc and dude seemed real. Usually he talks alot of shit, but when he talked about he almost shot Menace over that run up.. He really sounded sincere and didnt wanna take a dudes life for no reason.
As for respect due, again, its an area that different perspectives are gonna demand a different response. You might feel he doesnt deserve it, while other street rappers that know him/his history/what he's done, will give him that respect for the fact they might be in the same predicament or situation he is in. Again, we dont understand it fully due to the fact we are not behind the scenes where he was. Being Blackballed for an underground artist is some real shit... because it is stopping you from progression. If Snoop didnt want to get overshadowed by lets say Licwit or Tre Mak, and tell people not to fuck with him.. they have every right to be pissed. The industry isnt fair.. and its not run how it used to be.
As for arguing.. for me, its having a valid point. I understand about "negative role models" or what not, but again, its the way people come up. Its not just Rum, its Mitchy, its Ise B, its Big June, its C Hecc, its Big Reece Loc.. its any real rapper that came from the streets. You can even take it to Birdman and Lil Wayne, Jim Jones and Jay Z.
I cant change the way any of them came up, but I can try and help them further their music career in other ways. They further their music careers, they can avoid the street shit. Then we can hear Hip hop (west coast version).
As for dirty humbling or even negative re enforcement, I personally dont go that route. There is nothing we can do to change people's mentality by ridicule or personal attacks. Especially when internet assaults are compared to live bullets. Its a progression that the artist needs to make to better their fanbase or even themselves. Plus, there is not gain in me putting down someone based on their misfortune or life. In some ways, I'm no better in my choices. Its one of those things that make me humble.
And that goes for Gangsta rap too. While people talk alot about the negative aspect of the streets and lifestyle.. you do get a glimpse of message from many. Bandana did the Piru'n remix/video (which I know you dont like the message) but that "Any Day" video by A Wax and Bandana, I really think that it sends a powerful message that maybe alot of people might have skipped. Its some real life understanding.
Now, I see your intention, but you are going about it differently (IMO). This is a gangsta rap site and hell, even just a misc site in general (check the open forum for political/race/obscene/general topics), and with that goes with what happens on the streets.. which is drugs, hoes, guns, gangs, snitches, prison, and anything that goes with it.
As many of us have lived that lifestyle, we understand it and its why we feel it. Truth is, I'd rather hear it from the source then from the reporters perpetrating it. Feel me?
I dont come on siccness to start trouble or look for it. Im a fan and a general poster. And to chop it up with many of them.. its interesting to me. I get a better understand of what people are about with their music.
