It doesn't look like they've added too much. When I use reason I usually master outside of the program anyway, and that new combinator (or whatever it's called) seems like it's not really doing much except making it easier to group your sounds together. I can get the same effect if I copy what I played in the arrange window to the different modules and tweaked it in there.

Even with the negative response, I'd still like to check it out and see how it all works and sounds. I'm interested to hear the new sound bank too.

^for someone like me who only has reason that mastering rack its one hell of a bonus. It looks like they are really gonna make it so reason competes with MPCs and workstations and shit like that. That combinator thing actually sound slike a pretty cool idea to me, better than all the copying and pasting it takes to blend sounds from different devices that don't take the same files.

I wonder how much the upgrade will cost, i hope it ain't more than like 150 bucks tops.

I was hoping on an arpregaitor too but i didn't see any info on one, That matrix ain't no Arp like people try to say it is and is a bitch to program patterns with.

The biggest thing most people were waiting for was VST implementation. They have already stated they don't plan on adding that ability so it leaves Reason 3.0 not being much of a big improvement over 2.5. You can always rewire to Cubase, Sonar, or other Multi-trackers though so that's a plus but integrating vst's into Reason would make it a lot more capable. Then again it would add that many more bugs and costs in support and development.

that Combinator is gonna make reason tighter than any thing like it. I heard some of the multi layered samples this thing can make and they sound really nice. I can't wait to fuck with that thing. Even without VXT support, it still shits on any other soft synth out there for the price especially if the mastering tools are as good as the propellarhead people claim them to be.

I'm biased though cuz thats all i use and its served me pretty well

I think it already competes with the MPC.

I own both, and even if I'm sequencing a beat in the MPC, I'll usually end up loading up Reason at one point in the track to use with what I'm doing.

^I heard while using an MPC your stuff will come out crisper and louder clearer etc than when using something like reason, any truth to that?

I'm looking forward to the mastering tools so I can stop hearing about how thin reason beats sound and shit cuz i put alot of time and hard work into my beats and wanna get them on some real projects some time in the near future.

if you have Cubase SX/SL/SE, you don't really need to have VSTi support for Reason... but it WOULD be more convenient and would also take up less system resources....

all reason needed was an arpregiator IMO and i think that combinator used in conjunction with something like the matrix pattern sequencer would make something like that, which will play a sequenced patch with the touch of the keyboard. I don't think reason really needs VXT support when its pretty much a VXT itself, i'm not an expert on VXTs but do vxts support other vxts?

^ forgot what the abbrethation but its pretty much virtual studio gear for your computer. Like synthesizers and samplers etc for example the Moog modular V or notivation V station. Thats pretty much what reason is too. See people want reason to me a multitracker like Cubase or Sonar and the propellarhead people are just never gonna let that happen, if they did reason would probably cost 700 to a thousand bucks.

^thats what I was thinkin, for the most part frooty loops is for people too cheap to put any loot into a real setup. I've heard a handful of people make decent shit with it but 9 times outta 10 that shit is straight garbage
