The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell.

It's a pop psychology best-seller. It talks about how trends and epidemics blow up. Applying the knowledge I got from the book, there were enough people who were "connectors" to get the hyphy movement recognized by Lil Jon. It started as a subculture in Oakland then the "connectors" spread it like wild fire. My friend has a little brother that goes to high school in Las Vegas and he said they be ghostriding their cars haha.
