For those of you obsessed with iTunes and use an iPod or iPhone on a regular basis are probably aware of the CoverFlow option. Some of you have may have even scanned a few of your favorite album covers and attached them to your .mp3's specifically so the art shows up on your iPod. Well I took this a step further and actually integrated the flash feature into my website. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Hopefully it works on your browser. The covers I have up are just for testing and will be changing constantly. I just launched this section today, so any complaints or tips on making it look better would be appreciated!

yeah ill be updating my site real soon, i was suppose to open a store but decided to open it on ebay instead. but yeah, i did my own logo. coding on that site (homestead.com) uses simple layouts and they even have a program similar to frontpage so you can change/update things easily. but damn, your site looks dope, the pics and details come out real clean.

so this is just a test for right now? i cant wait to see it when you have all the covers up

Thanks r8r! Scanning everything takes a while, but its worth it in the long run. I wish my scanner was good enough to do wax! I could only imagine some of the cool covers you got to show off! Out of everyone on this board I think you & L-Wood need a website the most!

CODE547.COM Was a dope website with a nice database. It had tons of potential, it was just never updated! I've been trying to remember the 3 guys that ran that site. The main dude was from Germany and I believe he posted on the siccness back in the day. He still sells shit on eBay from time to time.

To answer your question, my website work is probably never gonna complete, its like an old car you just keep fucking with in your free time. I have tons of ideas, I just need to prioritize them. What I really need is a new logo, I hate mine with a passion. I'm about to pay some scrill to have a new one made.
You had some ideas on your site I wanted to build on and integrate to mine. We should talk sometime playa. Throw your site up again if you can. I think you get more hits then you think. Do you have google analytics tracking your visitors?

it would dope if we (you, me, r8r, l-wood) did something like CODE547 but have clickable titles to view the release information like the tracklisting, year release, production credits, pressing code, and links to the artists' myspaces/personal websites. thats what i was planning on doing with my site but i dont have EVERYTHING that was released and it would take forever if i did it alone.

im sure if we made ONE site, it would be more complete. we can even have a forum and a store hooked up to the site or whatever....i dont know...im just throwing my ideas out there. we could probably start one of the best underground rap sites if we worked together.

haha sound crazy? i think it would be dope.

That doesn't sound crazy at all! A website with that much info should get a mass amount of hits. You're right about a project that size being impossible for only one of us to do. After the Holidays let talk!

I'm with you guys...that would be great to see happen but like r8r said it's about time more than anything because I know we'd do it right. I'm impressed by both your sites (Cash & Remar) and know nothing about creating one myself but over the years I've scanned close to a 1000 CD & Tape inserts and have them in a couple folders still. I remember CODE547 (O. Killian) and his boys site....it was real cool but ours would be on another level...lol.

its cool to hear that you guys are down for this. i know its gonna take a while, but we can start something and update it whenever some of us have time. we just need to plan things out.

im not a pro in making websites, but i made my website in about 2 hours (i just never updated it). believe it or not, i spent more time designing my logo than creating the site. i used www.homestead.com and they use a program that you can download that is kinda like Microsoft Frontpage. Im sure if we all download that Homestead program then we should be able to sign into the same account and update things from our own computer. we dont have to use homestead, im sure theres other ways in making a legit website. i just wanted to give you guys an idea on how easy this might be.

i was serious about my site until i realized i didnt have enough in my collection to start a dope website. but knowing that you guys are down inspires me to continue. imma take this real serious and do more research over the next few weeks. after the holidays, we all should talk cuz i know everybody gonna be busy with x-mas and the family this month.

this would be really great if you guys did this. nice site cashflow. i tried doing something like this back in 2000 but it didn't workout how i wanted. scanning inserts too is very tedious and a time consuming job.

If we decide to do this, we all need access to the database from anywhere. Since we all live on opposite sides of California we can still easily update the site we create using the software that the company I work for has created. The initial cost is a little high but I have some of the best coders in the bay area on my team, so anything you dream of we can build. I'm showing you some screenshots of the database that controls my website. This first shot show shows that you can have multiple users and it can be accessed and updated anywhere with internet access.

Here you can see all the items for sale. You can permanently delete and add new items here.

Now this is the item info. I'm only editing an item here, but it looks the same if you're adding a new item. Its a really easy interface. Do you guys think something like this would work for us? JVF Consulting is the company I work for that has created this easy to use software. Check em out if you have some time. http://www.jvfconsulting.com

Thanks for checking it out 4thereal! Did you have a domain that you still maintain? What is the url?
It would be nice if the site we build allows users to login and upload their own album covers....????

Cash...I like that interface, it looks real easy to use. Something that can be accessed by multiple users from anywhere is key. Is uploading the images just as easy? I have a lot of older scans done at 150 dpi 6-7 years ago as well as some nice crispy 300 dpi's from the last couple years....will it auto size them to fit or should we do that ourselves?

Nice Idea!!

Nice Idea!!! I would like to see the final product when and if you guys finish it. Yeah that other site "Code 541" or whatever it was called was decent, but a lot of the links didn't work and it was definately outdated. None the less it was coo', but could've been way better. That scrolling thing-a-ma-jig on your site is a nice look. I think that a dark background will help the images have more visual POP. The white background doesn't give it as much appeal as those pictures deserve. I hope you guy's really get together and make it work. Oh yeah, make sure to add watermark's or somthing like that to those pictures, because people will steal them. Hell I seen a whole lot of my pictures on amazon items and I don't know who posted them. Take care ya'll and make it happen.

nah it's long gone now lol. it was back when i was in college and just learned how to make a basic little site through geocities and cjb.net because i knew some guy at the time who was diehard into the technology. that site probably lasted no more than 6 months before i got frustrated with it lol but it got a lot of looks from the people on campus and some other places. i use to haul tapes to school and scan them. it was some hard work. but it looked nice from what i had. it just had the name of the artist/group, year, record label, maybe a former name/group they went under before or was from, maybe former record label too, and then it had the front cover and it was up and down the page. kind of what i do in my auctions today. but you're definitely on to something with this. sign me up whenever you get it going.
