Not necessarily making this for the nu-metal/rhyme slinging rock bands, but for the recent connections between the rock and rap scenes.

Daryl Palumbo (glassjaw/head automatica) executive producing Cage's next album.
Josh Eppard, former Coheed drummer, releasing a new Weerd Science album sometime this year. And in an interview last week saying he's playing drums on most of the songs and will have 3/Joey Eppard featured on the new album Sick Kids.

Is this just an isolated sort of thing or maybe a new movement merging the two underground scenes?

Look Daggers is an abstract hip hop group with 2Mex and Ikey Owens from The Mars Volta. I'd like to see more rappers get involved with good rock artists, like that track with Kanye, Pharell, Lupe and Thom Yorke.

Psycho+Logical's been doing a lot of shit with metal bands on Bill and Necro's albums. Some of it works and some doesn't.

They probly just dont listen to much rap or at all... Well at least after viewin Sebastian Bach tryin to rap at the Hip-hop Celebrity show... smh...
