AS much as I'd love to blame lackluster soundscans on garbo commercial rap I can't. It sounds ironic but hiphop music along with the rest of the recording industry will probably make a comeback when the Feds get pissed enough at all the tax revenue they're missing and start pushing for stronger encrypting on discs and data and start head hunting like they did with the whole Napster shit. Although I don't know which I'd prefer. Lack luser sales or the Feed knocking on ya blogroom door.

Alot of the public is stupid but not all. Rap iz gonna continue to die because for every artist that cares about the music there will be a dozen more that'll sell their soulz 4 a million dollar check. Then u look @ the youth. Mothafuckas running around thinking that Hyphy & crunk iz artistic. Cats actually beleiving Lil Wayne iz the greatest rapper alive. Great MC's & hip hop pioneers dying from gunshot blast to car accidents & getting locked up while garbage ass mothafuckas are getting endorsed by shoe companys & beating case after case. The music been garbage. This is nothing new. I fuck with the underground only. I haven't bought a mainstream album besides probably E-40 & Scarface since the 90's. Tha game iz fake anyways.
U always got Wayn'e name in your mouth though.

I think we've all been completely aware of the lack of creativity, flavor, and diversity in mainstream hip hop these days. Essentially, it isn't news to any of us. After all, we are underground music fans. But I know one thing is certain... High School Musical MUST be destroyed. And being a former Walt Disney World employee, I know the perfect way to execute that plan. Legally.

That can't be entirely true, 'cause yall know about the Tech N9ne thing right???
Put Absolute Power up for download and the sales tripled....

And yall say its cause of downloading...

I think that plays a role....but it definitely aint the main problem

Downloading hurts the artists, I don't deny it. But, when the chance of buying an album and regretting buying it after that is close to 95%, few people are ready to take the risk. 95% of albums already sucked around 98-99 and downloading wasn't so widespread back then....

That works for more underground artists because it helps get the word out (Though I don't know, Tech N9ne seems bigger than that), but if it's someone like Lil Wayne or Young Buck downloading is taking a huge chunk out of their sales.

Plus the MTV demographic has moved on. Rap used to be the biggest genre among that group, but now it's that punk/emo rock again. If that switches back sales might come back up.

downloading is a major factor(with the expectionof Tech N9ne) look around these forum topics...looks for any new album reviews and shit and read how many kats openly say they about to go DL. it's rediculous..these are the fans...the internet has done damn good for the underground scene for sure...but many of the kats that are under gorund are trynna go mainstream...and it's the mainstream sales that suck. Sometimes it's not even the artist makin weak shit...Ill use his name again..Tech is making pure dope shit...with or without a beat...he's the future...why is he not major right now? mainstream dont want something real like that...they dont see longevity in rappers....so they pick up the "fad" rappesr and make they money now and get out later....I dunno...I could go on for days...
