It happened when he got traded to the Knicks. They already had Marbury (which would have made a better wtf happened) and sort of split time. Then by the time he got to Houston he lost the job to Alston. Since then he as been comfortable staying in Houston. He picked up his player option to stay as a backup for only a few million.
