The NFL isn't a friend's league; it's a business. Fair doesn't mean shit...

Walter's been there longer than McCown; by your standards, HE should be the starter.

Culpepper > McCown...Culpepper's had a devestating injury, so he could have an excuse for underperforming for 2 years...McCown's never done anything in a relatively healthy career.
Since Kiffin became head coach, Walter has not been there longer than McCown... Walter missed time because of his surgery so he got behind. He was there before McCown but McCown hasn't missed anytime. McCown has put in the most work with the 1st team so if he doesn't get injured the starting QB job is McCown's to lose.

scary - why is this 1st round qb holdout any different than any of the other 1st round qb holdouts in the past?

Plenty of reasons.

first Lienert held out because those around him hadn't signed and that helps slot what he would get.....WELLLLLLLL If the Raiders wait any longer then they may be paying more than they should if the lions meet Calvins demands!

second......Quinn compared to Russell are 2 different things.....Quinn thinks he is a better qb then where he was drafted, there fore leading the 2 to a stalemate...where as JR everyone knows he was #1...whats the hold up?

Also not many qb's have held out and then went on to be very productive that year.....I mean rookie qb's have a huge problem as it is..much less holding out and missing camp.

Add to that Big Al isn't he most patient person in the world so what will that to do JR when he does get signed and is behind the playbook? There isn't time to learn duiring the on-season..and you can;'t throw him to the wolves during regular games.......huge differences

signing Culpepper would be good IMO....... Competition never hurts and IMO he would help out Russel( once he signs ) more than McCown or Walter would

Yeah he would...he'd be like man I was the shit when I had Moss..but then he left and I sucked....you will have fun playing with him....OH SHIT wait....he left this year...man you're screwed too just like my career!

Pep aint shit without Moss, and esp after the injuries.....you really cannot say this is a good thing.

start mccown, get russell SIGNED!!!!!!! then let him learn the offense.....it will be a rough year but thats the way to go

Raiders are expected to sign Culpepper by the end of the day. This means Walter will probably be dropped to 3rd string, and possibly on the practice squad once J-Russ signs. The more competition the better.
Thats fuckin bullshit. IF HES GOING TO BE SIGNED WALTER IS NOT GOING TO BE LOWERED OR ANYTHING. CULLPEPPER IS GOING TO HAVE TO WORK FOR THE JOB JUST LIKE WALTER OR JOSH WOULD.

If they sign Culpepper the Raiders are going to be loaded at qb. Pepp, McCown, Russ, Walter... man. I wonder how much are they going to offer him. Wow... not wishing bad but signing Culpepper makes no sense when you got your number one draft pick holding out for his contract and Burgess wanting to redo his deal.

Well no shit he'd have to work for the job. Culpepper and McCown beating out Walter in camp is just speculation on my part, that's why I started off that sentence with ..I think..

Culpepper leaves Raiders camp without signing a contract

Quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who had a try out with the Raiders on Tuesday at the team’s training camp in Napa, met with team officials but later left without signing a contract.

That leaves Josh McCown and Andrew Walter as the primary quarterbacks for the Raiders in training camp. No. 1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell is still unsigned.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING... BUT NICE TRY!
sure it doesn't mean anything...just how rookie qb's fare in their first couple years doesn't mean anything, just like not improving an o-line doesn't have anything to do it with it.

It's all relative!

Phillip Rivers held out.
and he guided a team with a good defense, the best rb in the league, and one of the best ever te's to a 1 and done in playoffs....AT HOME!

He's nothing without that team...give me lt & gates and that defensew and I'll win 10+ games just handing off or getting ball to Gates.
