i knew that this post would get some weak minded people heated. that was not the intent, i dont condone it, but it should be open for disgussion in the open forum. i wanted to see if others had heard of it and if they knew where it origionated. i justed what to know how such a funny sounding stupid term origionated. its not always about race.....

Since this topic refers to the origins of racial slurs, I'll contribute my piece.

The derogatory term of "Melon Johnny" for Blacks derived from the Italian word "melanzane" (pronounced mel-on-za-neh) meaning "eggplant." And so the connection is made...

How did you and this guy get on BLACK PEOPLE anyway? I'm interested as to know more on how the conversation ORIGINATED....was it one of those let's exchange Racist terms about Black people? Kwowing that it's blacks on the board who may be offened (Yes, I'm black and HELL YES I'm offended) I don't even feel like getting into the BLACK v WHITE bullshit.......to be honest I'm so sick of all these RACE post and all that BULLSHIT. You got alot of pent up hostility man. A gay person is some one who has an atraction/affection towards a person of the same sex. A person who makes racial remarks is not gay, but rather is a racist, you catch my meaning here? The same way that you are pointing out someone's ignorance of anothers culture/way of being, is the same way you are demonstrating it with your remarks of a racist being "gay." Don't get me wrong, I understand that saying something is "gay" is your way of saying that it is not cool...but now you just belittled a group of people, (gays), with your remarks, kind of like a racist would do.
