Yes, the OG Mail man came out on CD in 1993. I have the same disc. If you search hard you can find my copies of many OG ring codes and the differences. Man, I put up all of my CD's into storage, I would pull out my OG RBL and etc. to show ya'll the differences. I really don't have time now, but when I start working on my blog, I'm going to start showing you guy's the differences between pressing. Even the Brotha Lynch Hung - Season of the Siccness. I have all versions of it including the Black Market only version, which is not the OG. Just thought that I would throw that in there. I can't join in on these convo's here lately, because my collection has been boxed up and put away.

That's a whole other subject though. Let's just say that I've been cataloging information from different versions. As everybody know's I like all versions not just OG's. This way I know the difference. C ya'll soon on these "What's the OG pressing code" topics.

Good work brotha 209. Do ya thank bruh-bruh!
Damn, I just love this. Here we go on back and forth for months on this board about these ring codes and then you pop up and booooom you promise us the real deal in the next episode. we all know it but you're the oracle of rap records. Please hook us up with the truth ASAP because now I'll have trouble sleeping at night LOL

@ Flowjob

^^^^ @ Flowjob. Like I said...all of my CD's are boxed up and in storage. When I do show you/tell you...I'm coming with visual proof. You'll have to wait until then. Like I said though, the Black Market Only is not the OG!

Thanks for the love Flowjob! It's much appreciated.

I'd be interested to know what date cobra427 has on the inner ring of the disc. I don't think either are fake, just different pressings. It's just a matter of figuring out which came first.
great facts regarding the ringcode subject..thats what i like about this board, you can always find out something new.
in my perception of terminology when talking about "og releases" if CDs were legit release they all og to me.
(..remember the recent thread about Hollow Tip-Takin No Shortz..even different tracks on them, but they both og right?!)
my first category is with differences from 1st or 2nd press... another category is re-release official or not... and the last category is bootleg or fake.
so as for my copy of 94 Mobstas its legit release, but i can not confirm is it 1st or 2nd press, ringcode is: 366-093-804B 09/15/93B

I did some research using pictures on the internet and compiled a few to show the progression of the Rainbo ringcode in '92 & '93.

Mac Dre - What's Really Going On?
366-042-357A 04/15/92A RAINBO: MAC DRE WHAT’S REALLY GOIN’ ON?

The Click - Down and Dirty
366-042-376A 05/17/92C RAINBO: THE CLICK DOWN & DIRTY

R.B.L. Posse - A Lesson To Be Learned
366-082-466A 08/29/92J RAINBO: R.B.L. POSSE / A LESSON TO BE LEARNED

B-Legit - Tryin' To Get A Buck
366-023-594A 02/10/93A RAINBO: “TRYIN’ TO GET A BUCK” B-LEGIT THE SAVAGE

I.M.P. - Back In The Days
366-033-621B 04/05/93A RAINBO: I.M.P.

The EPA-CITY Complilation - Dead On Arrival
366-053-677E 06/08/93AB RAINBO: EPA CITY COMPILATION

Gelo - Havin' It My Way
366-083-795A 08/16/93I RAINBO: GELO / HAVIN' IT MY WAY

Too Short - Greatest Hits Vol. 1
Disc 1: 366-103-854A 10/15/93R RAINBO: TOO SHORT/GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 DISC I
Disc 2: 366-103-855A 10/15/93T RAINBO: TOO SHORT/GREATEST HITS VOL. 1 DISC II

It would seem like these styles from '92 & '93 would predate the one you usually see in '94 & onward, like this:

But obviously I can't be sure...

Good info Joonz. I was knocking my "Down and Dirty" CD in the car today. E40 has always been a fool! haha. This CD knocks thanks to Mike Mosley, Studio Ton and K-LOU *bows to show respect* Had my Kenwood amp and 2 Rockford Fosgate 12's on a serious workout. Shaking everything in my car! Thought I would scan the ringcode to verify your pic. My copy skips on 2 songs, but other than that, not bad for being 18 years old!

After thinking about it some more, I think I can make sense of the differences between pressings. If you look at a typical '94+ Rainbo pressing, the information in the ringcode is somewhat sparse in comparison to those of earlier years ('92/'93).

vs.

In '92/'93, Rainbo seemed to assign ringcode numbers based on their own catalog system, but switched up in '94, when they started to assign numbers based on other things, like the label's catalog numbers. For example, RBL Posse - Ruthless By Law contains the numbers 8700 in its ringcode, which is also the In-A-Minute catalog number present on the spine of the album.

However, there is one exception. If the album being pressed in '94+ had been pressed in earlier years ('92/'93), the ringcode would retain its original Rainbo catalog number. For example, R.B.L. Posse - A Lesson to be Learned:

Both contain the Rainbo catalog # 366-082-466

This can also be seen in the C.I.N. - '94 Mobsta's & E-40 - The Mail Man pressings posted earlier in this thread.

So, in my opinion, cobra427's '94 Mobsta's came before layziemarv's and the black & red E-40 - The Mail Man is not the 1st pressing.

^^^ ya this is why we have boards like this boss, so people finally find out what the original press of each cd is in question. Good looks for sure Joonz, you did some really good searching on the net to find press codes for the rainbo company. People should keep all these pics for their records and future reference, since these types of questions come up all the time.

Also Sincere if you could post up some of your cds and press codes that would be real advantageous, since I am sure you can put to rest some questions as well.
...yea, to finally solve the mystery of Brotha Lynch Hung -Season Of Da Siccness, http://siccness.net/vb/showthread.php?t=346532 to get all press variations and ringcodes in one place.

E-40 - The Mail Man

Okay, so with some help from Flowjob and scans posted by sincere & 209, there is now a tentative pressing order for E-40 - The Mail Man. (Jive releases not included.)

1st Pressing

RAINBO/E-40 THE MAIL MAN 366-093-814N 09/23/93N

2nd Pressing

RAINBO: E-40 THE MAIL MAN 366-093-814J 11/29/93I

After playing around with my camera, I was able to get an up-close shot of the ringcode:

3rd Pressing

RAINBO RBO0366093814

The inserts should be the same for all 3 pressings. If anyone has a Rainbo pressing of The Mail Man that is not shown here or a ringcode variation for one of these discs, please make it known.
