Give thanks to family and be thankful for what you do have. i mean motherfuckers could have been born in a third world country without any opportunity. That is what i tell my kids it is about. This is a time to appreciate. As bad as it gets for some, it could get a whole lot worse and is for millions of other people around the world.

I'll tell them the real like my pops always told me, I'm not into that sugarcoating shit. I'm not gonna gloss over the history of a people that made it possible for most of us to be here.

But then I would tell them the underlying idea of Thanksgiving is great, despite the fucked up history, and also that we should be thankful everyday and love and cherish our family on regular days and holidays.

"In 1637 near present day Groton, Connecticut, over 700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe had gathered for their annual Green Corn Festival which is our Thanksgiving celebration. In the predawn hours the sleeping Indians were surrounded by English and Dutch mercenaries who ordered them to come outside. Those who came out were shot or clubbed to death while the terrified women and children who huddled inside the longhouse were burned alive. The next day the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared "A Day Of Thanksgiving" because 700 unarmed men, women and children had been murdered."

I thought that was what Thanksgiving came from. Hell if I know, but here is the catch...I don't care. I'm not a big fan of holidays. Call me Scrooge if you want.

All I know is that I eat bomb food, for days. I eat my left overs, clean out friends left overs, whatever left overs I come across...they are dust as soon as I get there.

I will go to each and everyone of your homes, and eat all your left overs too.

That's what it's about. I will pass that down, from generation to generation.

I done stated what I personally celebrate for.

I broke it down for the nephews & nieces a few years ago.

My son is only 6, & if you wanna fuck up your kids childhood euphoria then thats on YOU.

Ill let you be the bad guy.

Me though? I'm gonna let my kid believe the easter bunny hides his eggs, the tooth fairy brings him a toy after his tooth falls out, Jesus' birthday is Dec 25th, & Thanksgiving means we are all happy, friendly, & GIVE THANKS FOR OUR FAMILIES!!!

He can know what happened in a few more years, but I am not gonna fuck with my childs way of happy thinking.

& I'm not sorry for that, nor would I change any of it.

I went through my early childhood years believing that shit, & now know the truth.

It all comes full circle at some point, dont taint your kids happiness.

couldn't of said it better Shea... I have a 6 year old too

I wish I could have the innocent thoughts like my kid. Shit her whole kindergarten class dressed up as Pilgrims and Indians and sang some songs... She believes without a doubt Santa comes down the fire place and devours the homemade cookies ( which is a task gladly fat basterd myself too)

we all found out the truth sooner or later... why rush to grow them up so fast? what will it change for the future? not much. let them be kids
