I disagree...when was the last time Mario had a dope game???Its been years homie...they just put out that DS version....and thats about it....
If you ask ANY kid now....in their early teens...about which system THEY own?I guarntee a majority of them will say a PS2....and i mean a big majority...hell,EVERYONE I know owns a PS2...about half of them own a XBox...and only a select few oen a GC...and most of them have it for kids....
And as far as handheld shit...i was the ONLY person ive ever ENCOUNTERED....with a DS...but the big hit was and STILL is...the PSP....HANDS DOWN....in the US anyhow....
Havin "mascots" for consoles is a dead horse....alot of these games are being interchanged through consoles...so it doesnt apply to any ONE console...
So once again...its gonna be Sony....all the hype theyve created...and with HUGE success of the PS2...they will STILL crush the competition...and they will STILL be the most recognized console on the market...

ill spend what i want to spend on whatever i want to spend on, money is no issue here.
Square is the ONLY thing thats even making me consider getting the PS3. 600 is too much though...that price tag is way too high for a kid who still plays his NES more than any other system. And is it worth it to pay $600 when the only games I care about are gonna be MGS4, Kingdom Hearts, and FF? Especially when Square has and will be developing games for the other systems?
I think Im just gonna save myself $350 and get the Wii.
Granted the last time I got the PS2 was soley because it had a DVD player in it, I'm not gonna invest in Blu-Ray until someone can prove to me that its actually going to be THE new medium for movies. I dont want any speculations. I'll hold out on buying that much for a system until it is already a FOUNDED format.

But if the demand is there for other consoles, Sony will lose their loyalty. Case and point, the GTA franchise is no longer a Sony exclusive, not even a time based exclusive....

DS is still leading in the US also, but not as dramatic as in the japanese market. I guess here in the states more PSP users were more into watching movies than playing video games, i read a poll where the only reason why people bought a PSP was to play movies. But that aspect of the system was a flop. also any PSP user will only point out the features of the system, i never heard them talk good about any of their ps2 ports..
I don't think anyone said you were wrong when it comes to Sony's share of the current gen market.
That very same website reported that the DS out sold the PSP by a ratio of 3 to 1 during the previous holiday season here in the US.
According to the website, the DS outsold the PSP in Japan at a ratio of 6 to 1 during that same time. (3 to 1 during the entire year).
My point is that in Japan, the DS is wiping the floor with the PSP.
Read the magazines, visit the websites; Japanese gamers are picking the Nintendo Wii as their next console of choice.
And in my honest opinion, the Wii is going to dominate the Japanese market according to the numbers we're seeing.
Well Nintendo's user base does consist of younger gamers than the PS2 and Xbox user bases. So $$$ are much more of a concern to them.
However the point I was trying to make is that the reason why most gamers chose the PS2 over the cheaper Gamecube, aside from the obvious bigger choice of games line up; is that the PS2 was still affordable at it's highest price point of $300.
Remember that the original Playstation launched at that same price point, so $300 for a console is nothing new to gamers.
Hell M$ was stretching it with a $400 Xbox 360 (even though they offered a strip down version for $300). Sony is banking that at $500, they can still sell PS3's like hot cakes. That "might" work if M$ decides to fuck it all up and release a bunch of shitty games this holiday season. But that's not the case, there are some big name titles coming out for the X360 at around the same time the PS3 is supposed to launch. And there after as well.
Point I'm tryin to make here is that M$ is going to offer something compelling as a cheaper alternative to the PS3.
It's no longer "the Sony machine" has ALL the triple AAA titles while its competitors have a few AAA titles here and there.
Well that remains to be seen.
So far the biggest thing Sony has got going for them is 3rd party support.
But in my opinion, they no longer have the consumer.
At this point it's all speculation in our parts, but we shall see how it really unfolds this fall....
I can't speak for rappers since they tend to just follow what ever trend is in effect.
But as far as technology and casual gamers go,
go and say that to the now defunct 3DO company.
Remember them?

Ps3 won't flop as u guys think. Nintendo is probably gonna tighten there strangle hold on the market with the wii. They done had the portable system sales on lock for almost a decade. The graphics in the latest trailer have been toned down a bit from last year's E3 trailer, however it still looks great.
One thing to note is that Kojima said that the X360 is capable of running MGS4 as well, but he already stated that he doesn't porting the game over to the X360. Which sucks if you're an X360 owner, but who knows. Maybe Konami will asign the task to another one of their devs to code the game over to the X360, IF they even choose to bring it over to the X360 in the first place. Personally I doubt it.
But Nintendo Wii owners will be very happy to hear that Kojima has already started to work on an exclusive Nintendo Wii game, specifically to take advantage of Nintendo's new controller....
