I assure you that Xbox has the ability to split up an image and make it 3d, and that if they did, nobody would care. You could technically speaking have made 3D games for the original Playstation. They just didn't because nobody cares.
It's a useless feature. It isn't even a very interesting feature in movies, let alone video games. Most games are already "3D" in that you can move around in any direction you want. I don't really see 3D adding anything of value to a game. If anything it'll probably just make them more expensive.
