HERES ANOTHER REASON 360 NOT FUCKING WIT PS3

You know what's absolutely useless? A video of Wipeout HD being played in 3D, with some schmuck wearing 3D glasses and babbling on about how much fun he's having. Well, that schmuck is this Engadget editor, the video can be found after the break, and we've gotta say: we loved it. Especially for something like Wipeout HD, whose neon-infused tracks make for an almost too convenient example of rapidly approaching vanishing points, we'd say 3D could really be a quasi-"killer app" for consoles going forward -- especially if those fancy new motion controllers don't catch on for Microsoft and Sony. In many ways, 3D just seems to make more sense in a video game than for a movie, and the whole problem of finding content to deliver in the format has already been solved: a software update for the PS3 sometime in 2010 will enable it to provide a 3D viewing experience to "all" existing games on the system. We're sure there will be some exceptions, but it sounds very promising. The console itself pumps out a quite regular signal over HDMI, which the TV syncs up with your 3D glasses. A 200Hz TV, for instance, alternates 1080p frames, with 100Hz for each eye. Of course, you'll need a brand new TV, but at least it won't be restricted to just Sony televisions. Start saving those pennies!

if all it takes is a software update, 360 can do it too....all that's needed is the glasses.

and a new TV if you don't have a 200 Hz set already.

blu ray format has nothin to do with anything. a blu ray disc just holds more data than a DVD, thats the difference. you could have an HD movie spanning over 2 DVD's and it would still be HD.

games on blu ray dont even come close to filling the entire disc.

The 3D would only work on a 200 Hz set? Fuck.
Re-reading it, it uses a 200Hz TV as an example....it would probably work with any other set...all 3D is, is different images overlaid on each other in different colors to create the effect. even Youtube has a 3D feature on some videos right now.

The difference in picture quality between blu-ray and dvds is like night and day

yes but the picture quality is so much better because blu ray discs have so much space on them. so its not compressed to a DVD.

if you put an 8GB 1080p movie on 2 DVD discs, or 20 CD-Rs its gonna look just as good as it does on one blu ray disc.

if you dont understand it, fuck it.

i know but im talkin video games. why do you think xbox 360 and ps3 can have the same games come out and they look exactly the same? while 360 still use DVDs and PS3 is using blu ray discs. like Jake said earlier, just cause a blu ray disc holds more data, it dont make it superior in quality if the content can still fit a DVD.

you can have a game that is 2GB....whether its sitting on a blu ray disc, or DVD, its gonna look and play the same.

i was using the movie analogy cause you can cut a "blu ray quality" movie in half.....and piece it out over 2 DVDs....and it will look just as good.

the reason the 'blu ray quality' movie looks better is cause they got more space to play with and dont have to compress the quality of the movie to fit a smaller disc.

go to ign and view any head to head. heres the head to head of batman arkham asyluem.

heres the graphics comparsion

Presentation
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a pretty game with its creepy lighting, detailed Batsuit, and sexy ladies, but there are some differences here and there. Before we even get into this loaded question of which one looks and runs better, let's reiterate that both look great and the qualms here are minor at best.

Ok, ready? For starters -- and I'm talking about in the opening movie -- you're going to notice more screen-tearing on the PS3 than on the 360. As Batman brings the Joker into Arkham, the breaks were pretty apparent to me. In the game, the visuals seem to be a bit more detailed on the 360 and packing a richer color. I leapt of a bunch of stuff in each version back-to-back, and Batman's cape seemed just a tad darker and richer on the 360.

Of course, each game has its fair share of texture pop-in, and I'm not saying that the 360 is screen-tearing free. Basically any issue on one version of the game is an issue on the other -- maybe just not to the same degree.

If you go the PS3 route, you're going to need 1.2 GB on your hard drive and three minutes to install it. It's by no means a giant amount of time, but the payoff might not be so great. Although they were at different points I the game, it took 12.4 seconds to load the story mode on the PS3 and 19.4 on the Xbox 360.

After watching both games in action and weighing the seven second load difference, I'd give 360 the edge in this category by a nose.

Overall
1. 360
2. PS3

u guys are brainwashed if you think the ps3 has a graphical edge in most games cus they dont. for some games yes, but about 90% of the games look better on 360 then the ps3. the exclusive for ps3 look better then any other games tahts becuase they are making the game for ps3 and max out its potential. but they have what about 10-15 exclusives? and how many of those are worth buying?
