it's all on how YOU raise the pit mayne, as far as determining how it will act around you, your family and your folks......

show him love, he'll show you love
bite him, he'll bite you....

but that goes with any pet.....

check out sites like www.akc.com and shit... they don't have a breed called "pit bull" but the American Staffordshire Terrier is in a really round about way, the same thing... but pit bulls were bred way back when to fight other animals, and most of them are still highly agressive toward animals, but most aren't that aggressive toward humans, unless of course it was trained into them. If you're getting a dog to fight, good luck on spending jail time for that shit, and I'd suggest you just getting in a ring with the dog and hitting it a few times and seeing how you like to be bit by it... Also they are really good with kids, they love to play but most folks get scared because it's a pitbull and pitbulls are all over the news... Lassie bit the trainer more then the pitbull that played Petey in the lil rascals (lil tid bit) but I know some folks with two pits, the same age, from the same litter, and the male is all hyper and wanting to bark and chase shit and the female is all laid back and shit... just watch the dogs interact when their pups

ONCE YOU OWN A SOLID PIT....YOU'LL NEVER WANNA TO OWN ANOTHER BREED OF DOG....GET ONE, YOU CAN TRAIN THEM HOWEVER YOU WANT IF YOU TAKE THE TIME....THEY AIN'T ALL THAT HYPER....ATLEAST MINE AIN'T.
Yeah that sums it up right there. For the first year or so they are super hyper but at 16-18 months when they are fully grown you'll find them just like every other dog becoming a K-9 rug. Mine for example are knocked out right next to me. Just remember they do need lots of room to roam and yeah insurance companies everywhere deny coverage to Pit owners and in some cities you actually have to buy a special license for them too. Pretty much its just like having kids that get older but never grow up. 1 thing you have to remember tho is if you break a dogs spirit they are never the same. With Pits you break their spirit and youve just created a mean tempered dog. So with all that in mind this is why I would never recomend a Pit as a first time dog. Its almost like you have to think like one to understand em and those of us who have Pits know what I mean.

Man if u abuse yer animal u should be hung by yer nuts point blank...

I was always spooked of pits till I met Johnny Z's dog "Capo"....That dog was protective, but sweet with kids and hella chill.

With ANY animal it's how u raise it....But like I said, I have no respect for people who intentionally hurt their animals to make them "hard"....

just like you would want your lady to take care of you cause she loves you...not cause you beat her into doing things for you

would you want ppl to to hang with u cause you a good person or because they like your car?

i appreciate all the feedback...my boy's pitt, which i've been around more than any other pitt, is still pretty young...i think he was born around christmas. anyway, he's just pretty hyper and uncontrollable at times. He can take him out front, without a leash, and he won't run away or anything...but when we're chillin inside, the dog seems to do what he wants. My boy's pretty good with him actually, he puts his foot down, without being abusive. i just wanted to know if he was overly-hyper cuz he was a pitt or a puppy. I know ALL pitts are known for being energetic, but is it a genetic thing??? is a dog gonna be more mellow b/c his parents were??? what type of personality traits are genetic amongst dogs??
