Off the top of my head I know six people who use PT on a windows based lap top.

DAE error -9129 or -9093 and "increase or decrease the buffer size" errors when running Pro Tools LE on a Intel Core Duo Laptop. As of this writing, Intel Core Duo processors are not yet supported for use with Pro Tools. In order to be able to use a PC with an Intel Core Duo processor with Pro Tools, you will need to disable Multi-Core Support in the BIOS.

To do this, go to BIOS > Post Behavior > Multi-Core Support. The options you will find there are "Enable" or "Off." Turn Multi-Core Support Off.

If you need help getting into the BIOS, contact your PC manufacturer

ive gotten it working but its a hassle. i originally purchased it for a desktop system and it worked flawlessly. if you want a plug and play hassle free experience while reaching the fullest potential of the mbox GET A MAC!!!!! theres a lot more to do than what heresy listed. you have to disable any network cards, bluetooth, must have a firewire harddrive, change power settings, disable certain fonts and the list goes on.

again if you want a hassle free experience dont get a dell inspiron laptop.

Did you properly research the program and requirements before you shelled out money for a laptop? No? Your bad...

actually i had gotten on the duc forums and saw people that got it working so i gave it a shot. its working but not as good as it would on a mac and damn sure not as easy. does it change the fact that pro tools runs better on a mac? no that was the point not a debate on what i SHOULD HAVE DONE. not to mention digidesign DOES NOT list every step that needs to be taken to get it running correctly. the site is dated. the duc forums are the only reason i got it working. seems the users know more about protools than the designers.

Matter of opinion and in your case supported. In my case it is very different.

seems the users know more about protools than the designers.
Because many of the designers are code heads, while many of the users are code heads with vast musical knowledge.

there was nothing "musical" about the advice i got from other pt users. is was all pc talk. thats it. not one note, tempo, or time signature was ever discussed.

so in your opinion pt runs better on pcs?

heresy, what platform does digidesign recommend? just curious.
Back in the day the mac was the platform because it was a mac only app. Today both are recommended, but more support seems to go to pc users due to part selection and plugin availiability.

there was nothing "musical" about the advice i got from other pt users.
No one said it was. You said:

I replied with:

I am telling you the reason the users know more about pro tools is because they have MORE KNOWLEDGE about music (both in theory and technical design) and that knowledge enables them also help when the problems within pro tools are MUSIC RELATED. These users can take a musical approach when it comes to TECHNICAL problems or code issues (Like math processing, summing buss engine, fidelity, jitter etc.) Do you understand now?

is was all pc talk. thats it. not one note, tempo, or time signature was ever discussed.
SEE ABOVE.

so in your opinion pt runs better on pcs?
In my case it has. When the dual core amds hit the scene the pc outperformed the mac.
