I've been bumping these cats from Baltimore alot as of late. This will be getting mucho play years down the road from me. The last track is dub reggae version of one of their songs which really caught me by surprise. No girl pants or Duran Duran meets Hanoi Rocks haircuts for these guys.

The Unicorns is an indy pop group who aren't afraid to do something different. Instead of the verse chorus verse chorus formula populating most popular music The Unicorns prefer to adopt a more medley type form. Instead of choruses they may have reoccurring melodies within the song, making these chorus less songs still catchy while being creative. Another one of my top albums, Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? is just fun to listen to.

Ratatat- LP3

Ratatat is an indy electronic rock duo with Mike Stroud on the guitar and Evan Mast playing synthesizers. LP3 is Ratatat's third album and is just great unique instrumental music. They've also released remix albums taking rap a capellas from such artists as Ghostface Killa, Bun B, G-unit, Biggie Smalls, and others and made there own beats to the songs. Ratatat has also been in talks with Star Trek records to be signed as understudies of the Neptunes.

not sure if cloud cult has been mentioned or if you guys have heard of em. Definitely worth a listen. Alternative rock-esque, although this album is much more stylized than there release before this one, Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus.

If anyone cares for a little info...
Anyways, they're a rock band in the sense that there are drums, a guitar and a bass; the full instrumentation is as follows: violin, cello, drums, electric guitar, and electric bass. The guitarist sings main vocals and also plays the keyboard and manipulates artificial noise (loops, sound bites, and such), the cellist also sometimes plays keyboard, the bassist also sometimes plays trombone and a children's xylophone, and everybody already mentioned but the drummer sings vocals. BUT there are also two full-time painters that tour with the band and paint during shows (the paintings are auctioned off for charity at the end of the show; UMM bought one for $500); one of the painters also sometimes plays the keyboard, and sings, and the other sings and sometimes plays the trumpet.

Lightning Bold - Wonderful Rainbow
A friend of mine let me borrow this album when I told him I wanted to hear something out of the norm. He said it was a two piece drum and bass band from Rhode Island, but what he didn't tell me they were a noise rock band. I put the album on listened to the first two songs, took it out, and said "what the fuck was that crap?" and gave him back the cd the next day. Fast forward a few months later and the same friend picked me up to go help him move to Bellingham. We were driving and he had made a mix cd of various hard hitting bands for the drive. The second song in was the third song from the album titled Dracula Mountain. I must have pressed back on the cd player about five times to listen to the song again before letting the mix play on. The next day I went and bought the album myself without even hearing the rest of it and I loved it from start to finish this time. I now own more or less everything they have put out and they were the band that really got me into noise rock.

You motherfucker. I've seen them twice and each time was fucking amazing. That amount of sound/energy coming from a two piece is fucking crazy.
I like No Age, but I liked Wives a lot more. Have you heard Erect the Youth Problem by them? No Age is 2/3s of Wives and more ummmm I guess indie sounding you'd say.
