OLATHE, Kan. -- One of the two men charged in connection with the death of an aspiring rapper outside of an Overland Park bar was found guilty of his charges on Thursday.
Dale Willis was found guilty of first-degree murder on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Dale Willis was found guilty on all counts including a first-degree murder charge. He was also found guilty of battery.
Dale and his brother James both faced a first-degree murder charge in connection to the death.
Prosecutors say Dale physically attacked Jurl Carter by punching him and knocking him to the ground outside of Roxy Nightclub last September. Prosecutors say Dale then ordered his brother, James, to shoot and kill Carter as Carter got into his car and attempted to drive away.
James was supposed to be tried at the same time as Dale but his attorney withdrew from the case. Because James had to get a new attorney his case was delayed.
