I'm on both sides of the occupy movement. I do understand the protesters frustration about corporate greeed . But a lot of people are just out there complainin because they are broke. They just wana blame somebody else for their financial problems. I look at it on a more "survival of the fittest attitude". Only the strong survive. At the end of the day, I have bills. I have to pay for my food, clothes, a place 2 live and save money at the same time and not 2 mention all the other living expenses that every 1 else has. I had 2 get another hustle other than my regular job. I gota make sure I eat no matter what. There re 2 many lazy ass bastards that just want to blame other people. I saw some1 with a sign protesting, that said "death to capitalizm" wtf? That is the dumbest shit ever. Capitalism is how u can get rich. Any american can get rich, u just have to find a way to do it. Invent somethin, invest in somethin, work 3 jobs for 10 years, stack bread then flip that bread u been savin. But people don't thinkn like a hustler and they wana bitch and complain. I don't get that

everytime theres any kind of movement that starts to take life of its own...people always say that..."ohhh the government is just doing it to implement martial law"...so what if they implement martial law? thats gonna make people forget? hell no...then it actually starts interfering with all of our lives and more people will stand up against the greed and status quo...

CAPITALISM IS NICE IN THEORY...BUT WHEN THE DECK IS STACKED, WHERE ONLY A CERTAIN CLASS OF PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO REALLY PROFIT...THEN THATS WHERE ITS WRONG...I'M SURE YOUVE HEARD THE SAYING IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY RIGHT? WELL THE AVERAGE PERSON DOESNT HAVE THE CAPITAL TO RUN SUCCESFUL BUSINESSES...AND ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE FAILED TRYING TO MAKE BUSINESSES WORK...BUT YOU DONT HEAR ABOUT THEM GETTING BAILED OUT OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT...THEY CANT AFFORD TO MAKE EVEN ONE MISTAKE...WHERE AS THE BANKS AND GENERAL MOTORS CAN SCREW OFF BILLIONS AND HAVE THE TAXPAYERS PAY FOR THEIR FUCK UPS...AND STILL STAY IN BUSINESS...AND STILL KEEP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES WITHOUT NO REPERCUSSIONS OR WORRIES...IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING LAZY OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT...

BIG BUSINESS HAS GOTTEN GREEDY AND DOES NOT CUT THE MIDDLE CLASS ANY BREAKS. THEY MAKE US PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES ONE WAY OR ANOTHER...LIFE IS A GIVE AND TAKE SITUATION...YOU CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH, BEFORE SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE.

Arguing about the merits of capitalism is in vain because it presupposes that their is an intent to create value intrinsic to capitalism.

Because they are still slaves to the consumer society.

I understand they're/we're slaves to a consumer society, but that's how it was when we were born. A lot of people have been taught that way of life, and it'd be difficult for them to break from it. I don't think it'd be impossible, but difficult for some to relearn.

The occupy people just believe that they can increase their level of consumption by protesting.
I don't think it's fair generalizing the entire group.

I feel u on that. That's actually the part that I support about the occupy movement. Ur right about how the small tim buisiness owners are totally screwed if their business fails. But the Obama administartion has/is trying to implement tax cuts for small business owners. But that still won't compare to how the big businesses get bailed out. But my point is to the people out there just complainin and essentially expectin a handout. Like the video posted earlier of the rich white guy /business owner that debated with cornell west and he debated with that lady on the street. Dude had valid points.. he asked the lady if she would want to be a part of the 1% and she was stuck with no answer. Do we want the rich to pay even more tax than what they already pay? I honestly feel that some of us in the 99% would love to be rich, shit, every1 wants 2b rich but being rich comes with a lot of envy and jealousy. And some of that anger, jealousy at the rich is a part of the occupy movement.. at the end of the day, I can't blame the economy for shit. I gota get bread no matter what. I can't go to my landlord and te em some excuse like the economy is bad or times are hard. They don't wana hear that shit.lol

Yeah, we the regular people can't say anything if we fuck up or hard times catch us that's it done finito, but Big business can continue to fuck up and get bailed out and rewarded like BP, they've already been granted the go aheaed to start drilling in our waters again, but what about all those people's lives they affected negatively economically, health-wise, etc.? Guess the regular people have to deal with it and BP's execs are back to gettin those millions and billions.

Sir Josiah Stamp, Director of the Bank of England:

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth.

Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again.

However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in.

But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money.”

Dan Siegel, Mayor Jean Quan's legal adviser, posted on Facebook that he has resigned over Monday's police raid of Occupy Oakland.
His Facebook post: "No longer Mayor Quan's legal adviser. Resigned at 2 am. Support Occupy Oakland, not the 1% and its government facilitators."
