Shooting victim rescued from Bay
Man listed as critical at Highland Hospital after Berkeley shooting

BERKELEY -- A shooting victim who ended up in the Bay remained in critical condition late Monday after he was pulled from the water near the Berkeley Marina Monday morning.
The man's identity has not been released. Around 2:40 a.m., Berkeley police responded to a report of gunshots near the marina's public boat-launch ramp. When officers arrived, they found a man floating in the water who was "conscious but unresponsive," said Berkeley police Officer Kevin Schofield.
With help from the Berkeley Fire Department, officers pulled the man from the chilly water and took him to Highland Hospital Oakland, where he was listed in critical condition suffering from gunshot wounds and exposure, police said.
It was unclear if the man fell or was pushed into the Bay after he was shot, police said. No suspects have been identified.
Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call Berkeley police at (510) 981-5742.
