most of these suggestions are wrong.
I can't just give you the game, but here are the basic rules:
Photoshop: Flyers, Posters
Illustrator, Corel Draw: Logos and 1 page designs
Indesign, Quark Xpress: Books, newsletters, and multiple page text documents
All three programs work together seamlessly.
To be a real contender, you'll need to know all three:
Bitmap, Vector, and Page Layout.
